For the OP, try and get an anodized rim. Problem is they only come in silver and gold.

one ride in the rain took the paint off my velocity aeros. maybe ill just get some tri spokes and look like a goon instead?

Interesting, mine are gold and I've never run a brake on them but does that mean that the anodizing will not rub off? Or does it just take longer for it to wear? I am thinking of putting a front brake on as I have had a couple of close calls lately....Originally Posted by Tapeworm21

i bought machined from bell's and they sent nonmachined. i didnt return them, i just put them on and i've done fine all summer and now into fall - no paint lost. mine are white. i bought white brake pads and u don't see any marks. looks great. you can get white bmx pads on ebay.

Just learned this the past couple days.... be very careful in the rain if you're doing this. The first couple wheel rotations you have to squeegee the water off the rim. THEN you can brake. It's downright sketchy.
Someone told me the only anodized colors made by Velocity are gold and silver. My bad.

I had asked about this a few weeks ago. Just let the brake work down the rims. My rims would make a terrible scream, but eventually it went away.
