if in chicago area, look into chicago powder coaters, or get the powder coating hobby gun, used by many industrial places and costs between 45-60$ US and you can get about 2 pounds of a solid colour for about 10-20$ extra and all it takes is an oven to bake a powder coat job at about 375F

I like the thought process, but who has an oven that will fit a bicycle frame?

I have the same question as the 2nd poster about Sacramento, CA. I would love to be able to PC my frame for $60.

Me too. (There was a thread in the NorCal forum but no good recommendations came out of that.)

I'm sure if a few of us get together and do the same color we could get a good deal. There are 5-6 folks at the Bike Kitchen who have talked about this too. Email me at chris"at"sacbikekitchen"dot"org

right down the road in leola.
but figuring most people are paying between 80-100 for a frame, i'm figuring folks wouldnt mind driving a few minutes for that kind of $$ back in their pocket.

the best thing i've been able to think up is to find a pizza shop thats going out of business. a pizza oven would be absolutely perfect for a frame.

$10-30 for some of PA is not worth the gas money to get there. Thanks for the note though, lancaster might /almost/ be close enough to make that trip worth it if I need a powdercoat.

As for the oven, I think Raku firing oven is the way to go:
