Almost bought some but they looked cheap to me.. You can get Zaffiros for around the same price...

Hey while you're on the subject of Gatorskins, I noticed they're directional. I was planning on getting a set on my FG (have a set on my commuter geared) but thought about premature wear on the rear from skidding and almost more importantly when I switch the gearing (dual fixed flip flop) will it handle crappier when it's not rolling the right direction?

Haha, that's the same question that I have. I didn't really found the answer, but I'm just using it as a front tire. I'm sure your wheel won't explode even if you go against the arrow, but I'm still using it as the front tire though.

Can I get a tally of sub $50 per tire suggestions? I've got gators on my geared and bontrager race lite hardcases on my fixie. All tires I run are 700x23s. And is there a BIG difference between x23 and x25? In terms of shock absorption and loss of speed? And is there such a thing as really nice, low rolling resistant folding tires in that price range?

I'm about 200# low mileage rider. Have ridden these for about 4 years and loved them.
World of difference in feel versus the Gators. LennytheSquid loved them too.
If there's any hesitancy, it's how much I can push them when cornering. Maybe I shouldn't be running 120-130 psi?

If I had to commute, though, I'd run Gators as the metal crap on the roads near my commute is off the hook.

I'm running 700cc folding Serfas Seca FPS's on 2 of my bikes, one of which is my daily commuter. I have not had a flat since I bought them back in March of 2015. Like them better than the Kenda's and the Continental Ultra Performances that I was using before by a large margin.

The suck in the wet though, I've wiped out at low speed once because they lack wet condition grip.

Gatorskins are a lot like zombie threads. They are really hard to get rid of even if you don't like them any more.

Anyone else feel that Gatorskins ride like ****? Rode a pair for 5 days on a borrowed bike with a nice titanium frame and carbon forks and they still felt crappy.

Personally think Panaracer Paselas (Messengers) are a way better tire for cheaper than Gatorskins at least in terms of feel and never had a problem with durability but not particularly hard on tires.

Also Randonneurs are heavy as hell. It's the once place I actually care about weight as it makes a tangible difference.

Never tried the Serfas.
