Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? mxr eggbeaters i hate you..

two months into our relationship you have to seize up while going down a hill making me walk my bike home..

THEN you have the gall to be constructed without the standard 15mm wrench-off bits and i'm stuck struggling with an awkward allen wrench..

i've heard a few reports of this happening, mostly with MXRs

I don't know the technical term for it, but one of the outer cages that holds the cleat tends to wiggle, happens less frequently as you move up the line but CB has their share of QC issues

I really ****ing hate Eggbeaters. They shed mud great, and they're super-easy to "mash" into, but the quality is really poor.

Gotta call bull**** on that one. They make six different models. Please back the claim up with some specifics or don't generalize. My SLs have held up great for year now (daily year-round commuting, street fixed, track, cx and xc riding on the same pair) and the build quality is quite nice. If you're claiming that the low-end pricepoint models don't have the same quality as the more expensive ones, well ... actually, I'm not going to put words in your mouth. Just please add a bit more to that earlier statement.

My experience with eggbeaters is that the SS (and probably higher models as well) are pretty solid. The two models below that have very crappy bearings and bushings and aren't worth the money. My chrome model developed extreme play in the bushing after half a season.

Its a great idea....just a bad implementation...they just need to not make cheaper pedals until they can do it right......

I have owned 3 pairs of SS and one pair of 2ti....no problems what-so ever....
