WARNING: bike scammer on ebay...

There's this guy on ebay right now trying to sell a 76' Rauler track bike. It's the same seller from this thread over in the classic and vintage category. He goes by the name loop7531 or loop1357@yahoo.com. His first auction was for a Bob Jackson touring bike that I had sold (not mine) a few months back on ebay and have pictures of on my flickr account. When you read more into it, you can clearly see that he swiped the photos of the BJ and made a fool of himself trying to describe it. I'm sure the same thing is going on with this new auction. I warned the bidder and emailed ebay about the previous auction but unfortunately they did nothing to kill it. Regardless someone needs to nail that guy to a wall like NOW...

thank you. also notice he has 0 feedback. toolhaus.org is a good tool to scope out eBayer's neg/neutral feedback (try it next time, it lists out all the negs, etc)

This seller has done this multiple time on e-bay that I am aware of. He/She/It usually posts swiped pics of Schwinn Paramount track bikes and the add is written in a " I don't know anything about bikes" tone. While I have never bid on anything, it seems like a total scam as they have even reused the same pics for multiple auctions and always have 0 feedback.

Did he also have paramount road bikes on Ebay? I followed several of those until he was banished. Forgot the names he was using then, though. Ad said he accepted paypal, and according to one unlucky guy who won one, was informed the seller wanted western union within about 24 hrs, lol. Also used stolen pics.

I'm assuming it's someone here with the high bid? The bidder's "How to avoid scam sellers" guide was my first clue.

Why don't you guys just create and ad-hoc account to jack up this guy's scam?

Although the virtuous way would be to have eBay do something about it... but we all know eBay doesn't really give a damn.

Someone stole pics from my ebay ad once. I think their ad was maybe legit but im not sure. Either way, i wasnt having someone use my pics for their ****.
I reported it to ebay and they killed his ad a few days before it ended.
He emailed me saying i was a cock.
What a cock.

The Classic and Vintage forum has some real good detectives at spotting the scammers on eBay.

If you have any questions about any eBay or CL sales, check with them.

I clicked the link, but it currently has no bids. Did he cancel your bids?

How can you jack the price up without ruining your feedback?

The seller canceled the auction along with all existing bids. Too bad -- sweet bike!

Seeing as he said a track bike came with suntour deraileurs and shifters, I'd say 100% yes it's a scam.
