New Rear Light
I've had two of these little planet bike rear LED lights and and let me tell you right now, these suckers aren't weather-proof at all. After a ride through the rain last night my second one fizzled out. So I'm in the market for a new rear light, nothing expensive, but importantly weatherproof. I'd like something nice and small and low profile. Any ideas?

do a search in the commuting forum for some really good light threads. |
LD1000 is heavy as hell (no go on clipping it to your bag) but makes a great seatpost-mounted light. It's waterproof.

Knog Frog for 1LED. (for the rear, make sure you buy the one with the red light)
Knog Bullfrong is a 5LED version. Both are awesome. I like to run a frog up front and a bullfrog on my seat post. |

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll look around.

+1 on your experience being atypical. I've had a PB blinky-5 going strong for probably 4 years on my rain bike, and my gf wears her Superflash in the rain all the time. I love that light.

which Planet Bike light was it?
|
PlanetBike SuperFlash seems to be the most popular taillight blinkie in commuting and lighting forums. My SF has been in light rain but otherwise untested. Dinnotte tail light is expensive but is also very popular if you don't mind potentially blinding anyone that comes up behind you.

I use a inova 24/7 clipped to my bag for a rear light solution. It's spendy but waterproof and bright as hell.

I have the PB Blinky 1, but funny story...
As I was driving home from riding the other night, 2 days after I thought it died, it mysteriously came to life in my cup holder. So there may be hope yet for it. Thanks again guys. |
