Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

These have existed for a while as tandem stoker levers. It's kind of stupid, because they cost more than real brake levers, but I'm sure that won't stop anyone.

No offense, but I'm getting sick of people using the "puke in my mouth a little" reaction for everything. Its more annoying than the "smooth as buttah" comment that people make when referring to quality bearings. You really don't puke in your mouth when you see upside down drops and we all know it. Please, save it for something thats actually disturbing or nauseating.

I have ridden with bullhorns, road drops, and straight bars. So far I like the straights for the riding I do during most of the week, and road drops for races and long rides. And bullhorns just seem not so useful for me, because Phoenix is flat. Although they are comfortable. Can anyone recommend a handlebar that is somewhat of a road/track drop hybrid?

I find the drops uncomfortable and way less maneuverable than mustache, straight or riser bars. Although track drops do look verrrry sexy...

If you are riding on the road, try road drops. They are very different from track drops and more appropriate for everyday use.

or some shallow drop track bars...or some criterium bars. deep drops are no good for the street. i do like the gentle top curve of track drops though. which makes me like criterium bars alot.

What type of bullhorns would you guys recommend? Some of them have a slight drop (pursuit bar?).

edit: for general street riding

I'm quite happy with my Soma Urban Pursuit bars. They required a shorter stem.

I have Cane Creek levers (made by and are identical to Tektro) on Ritchey WCS Classic shallow drops. Just about perfect for me. But it's all personal, of course.

i have some c-n-f bullhorns that were from some very cool 80's road drops. i like them way better than the pretty aggressive drop pursuit bullhorns that i had before, which were bent just like the older cinelli pursuit bars.

i'm riding my soma 456 and i like them a lot for brakeless... i have a goldfinger waiting to go on which will push my hands farther out when riding on the tops but for now they're sweet... big drop for power and a pretty comfy top, for track bars.

if you don't want drops, get some parts bin road drops with a big flat section and chop them.

Drops if riding anything over an hour or so. Before that, I like bull-horns.

I find it funny when people vote in a poll, and then they announce what they voted for, in the thread, too. No other txt, nothing, just their choice.

By the way; bullhorns.

I like the look of both drops and risers, but like riding with risers a lot more.

I gave these to a buddy at the LBS. They have a bit of drop to them and are narrow, a bit too narrow for my tastes. Came off my old Raleigh Sprite.

I like the drop bars on my San Jose and roadie. The commuter bars on the Ltd.-3 are okay for city riding but not fast or long riding. But the bike their on isn't made for that really anyways.

The Nitto North Road bars on my wife's bike are quite nice. I may go with these or try bullhorns on the Sprite project.
