whats the schedule for slaughterama looking like? I just found out I have to work all weekend so I'm hoping to at least catch one thing.

Thursday night is the Pornography of the bicycle and maybe the tallbike race (might be friday)
Friday is a scavenger hunt
Saturday is all day at belle isle for thrash
Sunday Polo Tournamente X-treeeeem (everyone has $20 on the line so it will be pretty wild)

Try and make some time for at least one of the events as it will be well worth it.

Speaking of Polo, me and Ramey need a third for the tourney.

Teams from all over the country will be here repping their city including Philly, NY, Dayton, DC, Boston, Seattle, Portland, SF, Chicago and many more!! Come see if you can hang with the best for HUGE CASH PRIZES and LOTS of residuals from local bike shops, CROWD PARTICIPATION IS INCLUDED FOR SEVERAL PRIZES. We will be playing Richmond rules so be prepared to get burly, this means... Mallet tossing is legal, use the fence to your advantage to avoid a foot down, shoulder and hip checking is legal, mallet checks (slashing, but no mallet to rider contact) is legal, NO FIGHTING, NO WHINING, there will be impartial judges and refs to regulate. More details on rules TBA. All questions will be answered on the day of tournament or find someone who knows beforehand.







Tournament Format Goes As Follows:

Put Up Or Shut Up – Bike polo tournament format
Sunday March 30, 2008

Teams of three (teams must be formed at, or before registration) compete for big money prizes, ultimate glory and national bragging rights.





Location: Holly St Park Richmond, VA

Registration fee: $20/head

Games are played to three points. All teams enter into a hat and games are chosen by random selection, winner is determined by most wins/points earned by teams at the end of the day. Sudden death matches will resolve all ties.




Practice and registration begin at Noon on day of tourney

***TOURNAMENT BEGINS AT 2:00PM***

Registration ends when first round of teams have all played

Points System:
-Win = 1
-Shutout= 1/2 a point
-Loss = 0

Distribution of Prizes: (Based on an estimation of 10 teams entering the tournament)
1st Place Team gets 50% of all entrance fees
2nd Place Team $90
3rd Place Team $60

Individual Awards for:
-Most goals based on stats = 1/3 of remaining prize money
-Best defender based on crowd votes = cash prize (everybody can vote)
-Wrecking ball award based on crowd votes= cash prize

Also prizes for DFL, Best Heckler, MVD, and others TBA

today was awesome. SO many people from portland and philly.

So I saw this thread today. It reminded me of a longstanding dream of mine; a fixed cross-ish race starting from Belle Isle. You would start at the foundry, head north to the BMX-ish single track on the east side of the island, up the trail by the hydroelectric plant, around the island on the gravel path (counter-clockwise), across the bridge to the south side of the river, down the fire road to the JRPS headquarters, then take Buttermilk back to the 22nd St. foot bridge, down the stairs, back across the bridge to the island , and finish by the bathrooms. I was thinking fixed bikes with 700 or 27" wheels and tires no bigger than 42mm. Sure would be fun. Any interest?
