Project #3: Alley-found cruiser.
 

I've done two ss projects in the last year, and just when I thought I was done, I walk out into my alley to dump my trash, when I spot a beat-to-hell cruiser laying up against a dumpster. First thing I noticed was the KORE pedals and the three piece cranks, and figured it would be worth the save just for those parts. Then I realized that with all the spare parts I have laying around from the other projects, I could get this rolling for very little money.

Tore it all down and stripped the frame (which had been spray painted several times) and cleaned up some repair welds that had been done where the top tube meets the seat tube. Instead of spending hours and hours going for a super smooth finish, I decided to go with a black wrinkle finish. Covers up all the imperfections and looks pretty good as well.

I'm going to throw on some cheap ass mtb bars and get a quill bmx stem, then a seat, 1 tire and it will be good to go. Gonna keep the rear coaster brake wheel for now, IF I can figure out how to rebuild the damn thing. :)

The wheels, that I haven't touched yet other than tearing apart the hubs. Most of what you see is spraypaint overspray and mud.

Awesome bike. I've got a cruiser project in the works as well. Love the wrinkle finish.
