carbon fork for a bareknuckle
Hey guys I was hit by a car on my bareknuckle a few weeks ago (I'm fine, the bike isn't) and my fork is toast. I'm thinking of going with a carbon fork to replace it. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions/suggestions on what type of fork I should get. The only carbon forks I've been able to find with 35mm rake are the Wound Up Road Fork, the Planet X Full Carbon Track Fork, and Oval Concept's JetStream Carbon Track Fork. Reynolds also makes a track fork with a 37.5mm rake.
I was wondering if anyone knew anything about these companies or had ridden on any of these forks. Or if anyone had any other suggestions? I know I could also get a custom steel fork from Johnny Cycles or somewhere...but I'm kinda liking the idea of carbon. Thanks, Justin |
The wound up should be the most bulletproof out of your selection, but ouzo's go for about $100 on ebay in 40mm and 43mm if that's not too much.

Wound Up forks are so cool.

thanks guys! ordered the wound up today at LBS.

whoa. that's gonna make your bike handle way different. 40mm rake vs. 28mm rake.
|

oh, it is 35.5. if i changed it at all i would've gone with less rake.
|
^yeah, if you wanna ride the track. most likely he's just cruisin/racing around town...
especially if he's getting hit by cars. Dont worry man, the change will be negligible. |
Post pics whebn you get it set up. I have been thinking about getting a new fork for my bareknuckle.

The fork I ordered is 35mm rake, so 0.5mm less. Advanced Composites changed their website about 3 weeks ago, if not less, and forgot to list 35mm as an option. I called to make sure. Here's the old page on archive.org.
I'll post pics for sure. In the meantime, there's a pink bareknuckle with a wound up fork on velospace. From the pics it doesn't look amazing, but it doesn't look all to bad either. Maybe it'll look better with the green? And yeah, it'll be a street bike. Though I'd really like to get down to Hellyer one of these days. |
