Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

In love all over again

Just acquired a Surly Steamroller, SWEEET!!! Had to do something different though, I double twisted the spokes on the Surly hubs. Then after a day of riding a 160 crank with a 52 chain ring and a 17 gear, I had to switch it for a little less tall end with a lot more leverage 175 49x17. The tires are another problem but for now I'm happy riding a soft 28, not sure about their performance in the snow that will be coming, but I doubt I'll be keeping my twisted wheel set on through winter.

Pics to come

do you just ride fixed during the winter commute? I haven't seen you post in here in ages, hence the question. regardless, i'm looking forward to putting some cross tires on my fixed when/if the weather requires it. nothing but a little cold and some rain around here thus far.
