How do i tell whats under my forks paint?

Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

How do i tell whats under my forks paint?

I have an old fuji del rey, the fork is black with silver ends. It looks like the black is painted on, does that mean the rest of the fork will be that nice silver?

Unscrew the headset and wipe the grease off the steer tube. If it's chrome too, go ahead and strip the paint. If it's not chrome, better to not bother.

role-model. at least when it comes to being passionate and excited about something, especially filmmaking since that is my aspiration. His passion and excitement translated into the screen amazingly.

The level of smart-ass-dom has risen since I was a regular reader of this forum. Use copper wool to scratch away the paint near the chrome, or use paint remover on a very small area (search for other topics available there are several on bikeforums).

Actually, yes. Yes you can.

That's because paint and chrome are two different kinds of "coatings". The more you know, right?
