Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

sell the gf ged and build a better ss?

i am pondering selling my gary fisher ged and possibly building up the kona cowan ds or maybe an azonic ss or get this masi speciale at my lbs. what do you guys think. i know the cowan doesn't offer much travel but it is a full susser ss. or i was thinking of getting a better travel full susser and just using a chain tensioner to do it up ss. i hate gears and will not go back to them for some time now. i am currently spending 160+ on gas a month for my truck and am going to try and ride much much more. i like how i can just bomb the streets without worries of breakage on my ged so i naturally tend to stray from the masi. but i love riding the road bikes though so i have come to yet another dillema

You might want to try the MTB forum, most of us primarily ride SS/FG on the road. When you said gf ged I thought you were talking about selling your girlfriend (who passed a General Equivalency Diploma test). That actually sounds like a pretty good idea if you can pull it off.

look into a 29ss like the raleigh xxix, fisher rig, redline monocog, or the myriad of other 29er ss bikes out there. that way you can run thinner slicks if you feel like riding on the road or throw on some knobbies for riding dirt/urban. I have an azonic steelhead and while it is a fun bike I don't like to travel super long distances on it
