A frame for my girlfriend's first SS?
alright, so as the title suggest i'm looking for a 50ish cm frame for my girlfriend's new SS. kinda liking the green kilo TT (purely because of the green paint), but can't seem to find just the frameset alone. anyone have any suggestions, or any extra frames lying around (any color really, but a green, blue or red one would be nice) that might fit the bill? looking for something in new or close to it condition, don't wanna give her a beatup frame for her first SS...that just won't do. also, the frame+fork would fall under or somewhere around the $150-200 mark. i may be dreaming or going way out on a limb on this one...i don't know. can't hurt to ask :)
thanks and much love tyler. if this is in the wrong area or breaks some sort of forum policy then i apologize...havn't been around on these forums in quite some time. just let me know. |

that's one tiny bike or one huge pencil...
almost productive, if only for the chuckle it gave me. |
I would - almost - suggest that you could order the green Kilo, strip off all bad parts you don't like, sell them on Ebay/Craigslist and buy better parts with the money you made...

i was considering that as well but from what i have read the stock kilo TT parts aren't too great...i know the pedals and saddle are awful from what the majority of people said. but could be an option...i'll keep that in mind as well. thanks :)

But the Kilo is very cheap price. You can afford to upgrade some stuff and its easily the best looking budget SS out there IMO. Everything else looks crap.

What parts are you going to use for the build? Is a conversion an option?
|
conversion is an option, but i'm looking for horizontal dropouts because i really don't want to play the cog sizing game, buy a ENO hub, or use a chain tensioner.

Does your girlfriend ride already, or will this be her first bike? If the latter, did she request to ride, or are you trying to get her into it? If the latter again, are you aware that this is probably a terrible idea?

A track bike isn't exactly the greatest way to be forced into the swimming pool of bike riding. It's like you're the obnoxious uncle who throws small children off the diving board yelling "just swim for pete's sake!" |

Salsa Casseroll on sale now, it's worth the extra... |
I just picked up a 50 Kilo TT for my lady. Super classy ride.
