sliding dropout - american frame

Now I've done my research and I've surfed and surfed and the only sliding dropout frames I have found are made in the UK or somewhere else in Europe. What with $$ so weak against the pound\eruo it seems like I could do better with an American made frame. Not a custom frame because I don't want to spend the money.

Do I need to suck it up and shell out for a Voodoo frame for $430, or can I find a good frame with sliding dropouts (not a 29er) for less than that?

I don't know which voodoo you have been looking at but I have seen the dambala for much less than 430 on ebay from time to time

Mostly Wanga - which are $400 on ebay. At this point I'm not looking to buy a 29er - so Damabla is out. There are a few Shangos on ebay, and they are a little less expensive. But they seem to come only in small frame sizes, which may be related to the fact that they seem to jumping bikes, built for big hits. I don't really do big hits...

If it's a SS MTB you're looking for, check out the Kona Cowan frame. If by chance you're looking for a road/touring frame, they also have the Sutra and Exponent.
