Winter Adjustment Fixed To XC

I've noticed lately its been hard for me to adjust from my fixed which I commute with and my XC hardtail which I ride on the weekends and on rainy days. My XC drives like a truck and my fixed rides tight and smooth and I can't stand that first 30 minutes of adjusting, remembering that I have brakes and gears and then I get on my fixed and forget that I can't hop that curb as easy. Anyone have an easier time switching back and forth?

Yeah i made a winter bike, but it seems only to get used on the worst of days, as soon as the roads dry up i seem to find my ass firmly planted back on my FIX, And fixed in the snow just makes good sense

I go back and forth between fixed and freewheel on the trail (and just fixed on the road) and don't even think about it, it's just like my body knows what bike I'm on. Other people I know seem to be like you and wonder how I can switch back and forth all of the time.

I switch pretty often and it may feel slightly weird for 5 minutes but that's it.

I was out with the Fixed MTB with Nokians last night. I have 4 fixed bikes 2 single speed and 4 geared.

Its like switching form a standard to an automatic transmission. After you do it for a while its no prob.

I pedicab, and after a 6 hour shift on the cab, getting back on the fixed is like "damn, this is tight."

Like, I'll be sprinting as hard as possible, and not even feel it. It's the ultimate switch.

Switching from fixed road to SS XC isn't really a big deal for me. I'm equally comfortable on either, and actually prefer to grab the XC if I'm just teetering around or cruising to the coffee shop.
