Wind!
agonizing wind! we've got 25-35mph sustained winds and 40mph gusts here today.
worst thing ever. i was bombing a hill on my way to class and when i got out into open area between buildings the wind felt like it was gonna knock me over. then coming back to my house after class (uphill), i confronted the winds head on.
nothing makes you feel so powerless as doing combat with mother nature.

It's been windy as hell around here the last couple of days. Spots just north of here are getting 75mph gusts right now. I'm actually kind of glad I have the flu so I'm not tempted to leave the house.

You know, living in the South sucks because of the heat in the summer, but you can still ride in the heat. I think it would suck to ride in the snow and cold. At least down here, the cold, you just through on a sweatshirt and ride. This snow, slush, wet crap would suck to me. I hope all you all have a good winter though. I am going to go through on some shorts and a tshirt and ride

What drives me crazy is how people down here say "Oh! it's too hot" or "Oh! the rain" as an excuse not to commute on a bike. I point north and tell them that's funny because people up north commute through all kinds of crazy isht all the time. Much respect.

My philosophy about warm vs. cold is that when it's cold out, you can always throw on another layer and pedal harder to work up body heat. However, when it's hot out, it gets to a point where there isn't much you can do to cool yourself off except go sit in the AC. Besides, I love the variable conditions of winter riding, keeps you on your toes. Makes it more about the ride than just getting from point A to point B.
Then again, I'm a lifelong Michigander and very much warm-blooded.
And to remain OT: luckily my my daily ride is west/east, so I always know I get to enjoy the tailwind on the way home. Really makes things easier mentally, at least for me.

Wrong..the snow and cold makes it challenging and, hence, far more interesting. I'd rather have a few months of below freezing than a few months of 90+ degree heat with 100% humidity.

yea. Here in Dc area winds on Monday were barbaric. I had to go into the city and punked out and jumped on the Metro. Didn't want to chance it. Summer of '06 we had a wind storm with sustained winds of 35-40mph and I was riding to work on Backlick rd and got thrown into a tractor trailer I was passing. THANK GOD I stayed up right and didn't go down or I would of been dead meat.

Aeroplane: Just good, old-fashioned intarweb jokes.
But yeah, my wind situation sucks too, especially since my crappy weather Fuji Track has a really upright riding position.
My wind-in-the-face situation isn't that bad, but the crosswinds through Bloomfield around buildings will eat you.

I had to put a bandanna around my face on a late night ride. It was so windy I thought the snot was gonna freeze to my face. It was kinda cool though, cuz then I held up a bank with a six-shooter and road into the sunset humming the theme from Bonanza.

Riding to class yesterday, I was so glad I don't have an aerospoke/HED3/what-have-you.
Whenever I went through an intersection at a cross-street I'd nearly get blown over. The wind is my worst enemy.

Portland just got a bad wind storm with a tiny bit of snow. The wind was insane! I was at the mountain while the worst of it hit. Which sucked as well. But the coast got 115 mph winds and major floods.

yea sucks the energy out of your ride BIG TIME. Time to switch wheels cuz the A-spokes are like sheets in the wind. I'm also dropping down to 65 to help with the spin and help cold muscles out as well.
