The snow surprised me
 

I had a long day planned of looking for a co-op to live at next year, guess I won't be doing that.

The commute to work, was..well, "interesting."

Guess I need to either build up my fixed mountain bike or get some tires w/ a little bit of traction (armadillo + panaracer aren't cutting it.)

Riding my fixie (with no traction at all) in the snow these past few days has re-ignited my love for winter. I had forgotten how much fun it actually is. I look forward to my commute. You should too.

I just need tires w/ traction, then I'd be set.

I got up for an exam today and felt like throwing something at the sky... hard. After a few minutes of riding around, though, snow becomes my new/old best friend. Its riding in the rain, but slightly less wet. Its ****ing dumping here in Blacksburg-- I hope it continues for a bit-- it'll make exams so much better.

If it is just snow, I love riding a skinny wheeled fixed. But the roads I need to ride are never plowed, so they get mashed down and packed, and refroze to bumpy glare ice, then it snows on top of that, and gets mashed together in grainy chunks so when your tires hit them you slide around on the ice underneith. Not to mention everyone drives like its a 60* summer day. I almost got monster trucked last night coming home.

What kind of tires are you guys running in the snow/slush/ice? I'm thinking about some Michelin Transworld City Tire in a 28, maybe the Speedium in a 23..
