Trek T1

Good day all!

Does anyone have a Trek T1 (early model: Red) anymore? I ride a T1 and have a question about the outer down tube portion almost near the crankset area. I am not too sure if this is a dent or if it is the design of the frame, but it's killing me to find out asap. If anyone has a T1 frame (early model: Red) and can check their outer down tube portion and see if it is actually the design of the frame, or if i have a dent. Thank you!

Looks to me like the down tube was "ovalized" to allow for a full weld bead attaching it to the bottom bracket shell.

Wait...is that the early model: Red frame?

Anyway, it's a dent. Ride your bike, you won't die.

That's what I thought as well because the shape of the down tube changes right when it gets to that "dented" area. Do you have this frame as well?

thats why I'm looking for someone with the same frame, because it looks like a dent, but at the same time it looks like it's the design of the frame 🤔 I just want to know and it's bothering me that I don't. Haha

No, I don't. But if I were building that frame, ovalizing the tube is one thing I would consider.

Look closer at the pic. You'll see two small dents about 4-5" up from the BB shell.

I would rather ride a dented aluminium bike than a cracked carbon bike.

They look like 2 small dents, but from another angle it looks like a line that runs across perpendicular from the down tube. Let me see if I can take a better picture of it

Indeed, I knew carbon is nice and very strong (proper design and no abuse) but its lot of nerves and anxiety to riding one

Especially after crashing OR cracking by too much torque tightening carbon pieces . . . (this one super suck)

I don't want to feel "unsafe" all the time, I want "confident" feeling

Or you could just stop worrying about it.
