Brooks saddle with anatomical cutout

I don't remember where I saw it, but is there a shop or dealer that modifies Brooks saddles to have a center cutout, and sells them? Anyone ever heard of this? I swear I read about it somewhere but can't seem to locate a source...

That's completely fukin' ridiculous. It looks like he messed up a few saddles and now wishes to offload them onto some poor sucker.

zelah 12-10-07 01:54 AM

i would be tempted to ride naked on that saddle just to see if my balls would get caught

option.iv 12-10-07 02:06 AM

Why is the hole in the rear part of the saddle so large? So you can take a crap while biking?

Unfortunately I dont ride with my balls and penis being the main part of me on the saddle.

yellowjeep 12-10-07 02:06 AM

that pisses me off about the brooks pro. you could ***** while riding with that

bward1028 12-10-07 02:16 AM

that's a pretty expensive "experiment." i guess it didn't work, hence the sale...

LóFarkas 12-10-07 02:38 AM

Who experiments with two brand new and ****ing expensiev saddles simultaneously?

Anyway, at least he was honest: "If you think you can ride these experiments please bid"

Mueslix 12-10-07 02:42 AM

Doesn't a cut out negate the whole point of a Brooks?

nathbdp 12-10-07 03:57 AM

Why not just pick up saddles that are designed around a cutout section?

Specialized...

peabodypride 12-10-07 04:52 AM

^^^ Sucks that come guy worked his ass off to make the saddle perfect and then it gets so butchered.

xiamsammyx 12-10-07 07:45 PM

i dont know about you but those arent anatomically correct to me...

Not all of us have a tiny schlong ok?

roadfix 12-10-07 08:51 PM

Those are real crappy chop jobs.

You are thinking about selleanatomica...not to be confused with the selle plastic/leather covered saddles

These guys have a clever product based on the brooks models and will also retrofit your old brooks. The nice feature of the Selleanatomica saddle is that the rails are longer. The brooks b17 has too short of rails IMO. I have not tried these saddles but the testimonials are pretty good.

bward1028 12-11-07 09:56 AM

man, i can't believe someone wasted 50 bucks on that ****. although i guess you could always get new covers. still...

onetwentyeight 12-11-07 10:45 AM

i got to try a selle anatomica for a little bit and it was very comfortable. i dont know if i would purchase one for myself, but it had noticably more flex and cushion than a standard brooks.

dwainedibbly 12-12-07 04:40 PM

This shop will custom-cut a brooks for you:

they're total boat anchors, but lots of folks love them. especially touring or long distance. also rich people (i saw more on S&S coupler-ed bikes than anything else).

Looks like a cheap castration device. One bump is all it'll take.

those are awesome! and only $300. sheesh.

This kind of thing was a LOT more common "back in the day" when more people rocked leather saddles and more companies made them. There are still some websites and shops devoted to chopping brooks (probably more in Europe).

I guess you can pay some dude to do it for you, but why not do it yourself? Couldn't be easier. Just mark it off nice and use a box cutter. A be careful on the first few slits and don't try and cut all the way through on the first pass. You'll be surprised how easy it is.

It can't turn out worse than those two above. The person who made those should get a neck punch.
