Personally, I'd have liked to have seen a picture of the bike some how mounted on the cow....maybe the front wheel hooked over the neck.

I guess that was my point: surely there was a cow chip handy?

But I like the bike/cow juxtaposition idea, sort of a "bovine bike" image. That would have been good also.

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this bike. ****ing beautiful.

I've never bothered to look into the whys and wherefores, but my ishi 019 bike rides like a dream.

Iser@n 02-11-08 03:43 PM

Really really nice. Is that rust on the back? Shame on you! ;)

I bought a pogliaghi trackshirt a few months ago. It's from the 70's. Now i just need a frame to match...

bexley 02-11-08 05:24 PM

The Pog is a beauty. I love bikes that aren't visually loud, but perfection would've been chromed stays to match the fork.

sniks 02-11-08 05:24 PM

looking proper!

According to 11.4 and the framebuilders at UBI though, 8630 is still higher end tubing.

queerpunk 02-11-08 06:09 PM

rust! dear me, no. it's just places where the 30+ year old paint isn't there anymore. like that big line on the top tube. it's plenty beat-up, and the chrome is a little dull. i deliberately didn't take pictures of the scratched handlebars with the scuffed tape job.

i'm really, really fond of the Zeus hubs. and the cinelli criterium bars, which are FANTASTIC bars for short people.

How do you loose a phone. Fired it from a bow?

It is a flip phone, the hinge wears out after a while and gets loose.

sorry.

Were you referring to some paint or the lack of cranks?:D I've got a little sumpthin' sumpthin' up my sleeve and if it works out I'll post up a few pics. If it don't, I'll just go kick rocks for a minute.

I talked to some UBI guys who said they caught the Zullo builders coming over and commenting on how much nicer Kaisei 8630 was (to them) than anything by Columbus.

As far as Gran Mightys vs. 75's, you're probably not going to notice unless you're an upper level track racer. It's all bling on the street.

Anything's going to be an improvement over my Fuji cro-mo I reckon, and I don't mind starting my custom bike journey with the material the maker likes to work with. Bling on the street is part of the fun! But no one in my area is going to know what kind of bike I ride, yes fixies are still not mainstream here, so it's really all about personal satisfaction.

Umm sorry, what is butting exactly? Sounds pretty sexy whatever that is.

Thanks -- I think this was made in Italy still not Taiwan...

I need brakes, I don't live in a flat area, bike in foul weather and somedays I need to descend on a gravel road. I still have to see someone skid stop on a gravel road effectively.

It's too bad Pista's got a bad rap. I tried the concept and I don't mine those as well although for 400 more one could get a Cinelli.

Never had an aluminum bike before this, but it's not that bad. The main thing I notice is that every tiny creak or vibration sound is amplified by the frame.

I really need to get a stem with some drop on it. I can't get the bars low enough (the last pic is right after I built it and the stem has been flipped)

And, though there was some debate at the beginning, it is definitely not getting painted.

Don't paint it!! Daccordi are so hard to find re real pleasure to ride!!! I got a steel one and i anjoy every second it rides!!!!

...sorry.

Another good one. But remember what Andrew Jackson said: It is a poor mind indeed that can't think of at least two ways to spell a word.

Varying tube wall thickness to place more material where the tube is under more stress. The tube ends will have thicker walls than the centers of the tube -- similar to butted spokes like DT Revolution, which place more material near the nipple/head of the spoke and less in the center for elasticity.

memecomplex 02-12-08 11:24 AM

I see, so basically double butting for extra strength and quadruple butting for even more strength, right? Thanks again Sashae.

Lighter weight would probably be more accurate.

chase. 02-12-08 11:43 AM

more butting stages = more accurate metrics for removing material where it isn't needed. like a higher sample rate or more points to fit a curve.

Correctamundo + nice analogy.
