Come on, look at the background...the alternative was an inch of steaming cow dung.
Personally, I'd have liked to have seen a picture of the bike some how mounted on the cow....maybe the front wheel hooked over the neck. But I like the bike/cow juxtaposition idea, sort of a "bovine bike" image. That would have been good also. |

Really really nice. Is that rust on the back? Shame on you! ;)
I bought a pogliaghi trackshirt a few months ago. It's from the 70's. Now i just need a frame to match... |
The Pog is a beauty. I love bikes that aren't visually loud, but perfection would've been chromed stays to match the fork.
|
looking proper!

rust! dear me, no. it's just places where the 30+ year old paint isn't there anymore. like that big line on the top tube. it's plenty beat-up, and the chrome is a little dull. i deliberately didn't take pictures of the scratched handlebars with the scuffed tape job.
i'm really, really fond of the Zeus hubs. and the cinelli criterium bars, which are FANTASTIC bars for short people. |

So I gotta question: is the cellphone attached to the bb in some weird way, or is it attached to the brick (say, so you don't loose the phone... or the brick) or did you find yourself out there with a bike, a camera, and a brick to hold the bike up, and discovered that the brick was not quite tall enough...the cellphone was the best you could come up with to give you the extra inch of height you needed?

Columbis Spirit is really light and thin. I held a tube of it in my hand at NAHBS... seems a bit scary on the street, but then again 8630 is also pretty light and thin too. I talked to some UBI guys who said they caught the Zullo builders coming over and commenting on how much nicer Kaisei 8630 was (to them) than anything by Columbus.
As far as Gran Mightys vs. 75's, you're probably not going to notice unless you're an upper level track racer. It's all bling on the street.

That's the only Pista I've seen that looks like one I'd be willing to ride...minus the brakes
Thanks -- I think this was made in Italy still not Taiwan... I need brakes, I don't live in a flat area, bike in foul weather and somedays I need to descend on a gravel road. I still have to see someone skid stop on a gravel road effectively. It's too bad Pista's got a bad rap. I tried the concept and I don't mine those as well although for 400 more one could get a Cinelli. |

Finally got the whole Chiang Mai fixie crew together for some photos.
http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...aeMoatBike.jpg Never had an aluminum bike before this, but it's not that bad. The main thing I notice is that every tiny creak or vibration sound is amplified by the frame. I really need to get a stem with some drop on it. I can't get the bars low enough (the last pic is right after I built it and the stem has been flipped) And, though there was some debate at the beginning, it is definitely not getting painted. |

Umm sorry, what is butting exactly? Sounds pretty sexy whatever that is.

I see, so basically double butting for extra strength and quadruple butting for even more strength, right? Thanks again Sashae.

more butting stages = more accurate metrics for removing material where it isn't needed. like a higher sample rate or more points to fit a curve.
