Thunder, I know I'll at least cut the flanges off and get some bar ends, but white tape probably won't be happening anytime soon.

i was under the impression that the photos were color, and the bike/background were gray tones.

Hi all!!

thanks a lot to everyone for your nice comments, very encouraging!!

About the bike, yes, I first experimented with a MTB frame, and then after using her for some time and make decisions about the design, I went for the final step of a track frame with MTBfat tyres. The firdst step with that mtb frame can be seen in the #2177 entry of fixedgeargallery, and I also posted her in this forum some time ago, about august 2005 more or less.

I'm very sorry about the pictures, but I ****ed up the light beeing yellowy and too strong, so it looked weird. Being film, the only way I had to solve the problem was put them in b/w. But I will make another serie outdoor with natural light, and some of them off road, and I hope they'll look much better than those ones, where the frame looks crap. The only picture that was ok is the one in color, the first one i posted, and you can feel the difference, with the frame shines of titanium and all.

Cheers to everybody

I'll ask a friend to make a riding picture, but believe me that even if it's quite agressive position, is possible. In the top part of the drop bars is quite normal position, and only qhen I grab the handlebar from the bottom part I'm in the extreme position. But for example, when climbing a hilly road, I always take the drop bar from its bottom part, so it's not so bad as it seems, but I usually go quite paralell to the ground, roadie heritage I guess...

Cheers

i just dont understand why you would want a bike set up like that.

crazy saddle/bar drop, and those wheels must weigh a ton. Im a big fan of large tires and all, but brakeless it seems like a pain. How is it skidding on that thing?

What style of riding was it built to work with? or was it just based off of a "wouldnt it look cool if" idea. I just dont see a reason for any of it.

i like that bike, but the saddle to bar drop makes me think it would be hard to handle in conditions under which those wheels would excel. i'd love to ride something like it with cyclocross drops, or flatbars, higher up.

In the case of my faggin, there was a soda can under the pedal, which was removed in Gimp. Most people would use Photoshop, it doesn't matter.

Well, first of all, I just want to say that I don't expect everybody to like her, in fact she's a lot of love or hate feeling when people see her.

Why I want a set up like that? mmmm, difficult question... but... why do we want a fixed gear bike? are there tangible reasons? in a bike like that I don't look for reasons or understanding, it's more about feelings. I wanted to try a track frame in dirt tracks, but also reach a mad max look. Of course the aesthetics are very important, I don't deny it, and I think is nothing wrong with that. The ride? I love it, you can go over potholes in the streets without feeling a pain in your heart, you can go through dirt tracks or muddy fields, you can do whatever you do in the same ride, and for me that's the pleasure of her, with her looks.

skidding???? sorry but... going brakeless I've learn that the most efective way of reducing your speed is not skidding, but keep the force in the pedals. Of course skidding is good fun, and you can do it in the loose surfaces or off road, but on the road no skidding with those big foots. Anyway, not a problem for me as I prefer to brake more effectively on the road than having fun breaking my rubbers.

About the idea, wouldn't be cool if??? of course! I always wondered to myself if it wouldn't be cool to ride something like that, and believe me that I use her as my only bike, for commuting, for road days, and for easy off road trails. So, if I use her as any other bike, where is the problem? she as been done for my style of riding, I made her for myself as I feel cycling right now. If people like her I like the feeling, but if people don't like her I'll keep using her as my most dreamed bike ever, and I enjoy everything on her, from riding over loose surfaces, to road days, including just looking at her at the living room.

Yes, probably I'm in love with her, and that's the greatest thing it had ever happen to me with a bike.

Cheers

P.D. Patric, you'rr right, no adjustment at all, is done just for me, one size

Maybe the goal is to avoid pinch flats? Not everyone lives in a city with glass smooth asphalt.

if you want to avoid pinch flats, run sew ups i ride some pretty terrible roads.

i have to skid as I ride brakeless in a hilly city, and certain hills are just too step to make it down with resisting pedal rotation alone.

i wanted a bike to solve a similar problem to the large wheeled bike, and ended up going with dry condition cyclocross tires on a path racer with a townie set up, and a cross bike that had the handling of a track bike.

Erm. Any tire that is pumped up to the correct pressure should not suffer pinch flats. It has nothing to do with tire size or road condition.
