Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

This one's a little clearer.

And that's the thing. I live in Chicago, land of no hills. The largest incline I have is coming out of the basement garage of my apartment building.

But days with a nasty headwind. There have been a few where I can't muster up the strength to get beyond the single digit MPHs. I'm willing to deal with that for the chance to crush on days where the wind is at my tail.

Fair enough. Personally, I have to climb over a railroad overpass to get anywhere and my parking garage features a wonderfully bike-friendly steeper-than-hell entrance/exit which, because of the door remote not activating it until you're practically next to it and the door being slower than hell, means you practically have to start climbing from a stand-still.

Also I live right on the lake and the entire city is pretty much uphill as you head north.

So yeah, no monster rings for me...

What hubs do those langster city editions use? They come in nice colors, and have nice flanges.

They list them as Specialized...no markings on the hub bodies anywhere to be seen...

Man I wish you could take all the sticker off the Langster, I took off all I could and it's still a bit over the top.

The Boston above is pretty clean as far as the Langster themed bikes go...I just bought a "New York" last week. I bought it on sale and thought I could have some fun with the "taxi" theme. I think when I'm done with it it will look pretty cool...to me of course. Not everybody's cup of tea is a bright yellow bike that looks like a taxi Always had a thing for Harley bikes with custom yellow/checkered schemes...to each his own

Everything on the bike is stock, but the chain ring. 42 zen messenger is the stock size. The hubs are not to great. Im looking for new hubs or wheels and pedals.

God dammit I am such a nub. A word to the wise, if you've never wrapped bars before, get some cheap cloth tape to practice with so you don't end up ruining your fizik antique brown handlebar tape that came with your saddle and that you can't seem to find on its own anywhere.
