Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Totally. That bike would look way better without the white chain. I think colored chains (besides maybe black) are SUPER shouty and obnoxious.

Here's my pride and joy. It's a conversion that I built up on my own with my own money, and I'm open to constructive criticism about the build (but the aesthetics are my own, so those who hate it are s.o.l )

The bike was free from my uncle, and it's a early/mid 80s Schwinn World Sport. And yes, it is a little big, but the proper adjustments have been made.

Actually I was just too dumb to figure imageshack on my own

seriously....
I took so much time building this thing, to make it exactly the way I wanted.

i hope my bike's aesthetic value goes a bit beyond the way the tire labels line up. I think everybody should feel free to express opinions, but that doesnt give anyone the right to say what's decided by preference, and what is just "right."

Actually, I appreciate knowing how poeple feel about the chain, as I wasn't sure about it myself. That said, as the one who paid for and rides my bike, I picked that chain because it was the one I wanted.

if it works for you rock whatever you want. its a nice bike--
when you put it up on a board though people are going to comment,
just because they can, and thats part of what goes on in a forum.

here's a funny rant about lining up labels with valves among other OCD
trips:

https://www.trackstarnyc.com/web2/askzach.php

btw nice build overall

yeah you're right
I must've wanted the commentary on some level, considering that I put the bike up.
I do think declaring that something isn't preference is a bit over the line, though.
next time ill make my pictures a little more hipster-happy and line up the labels. I guess I don't disagree.

thanks about the build. I love it to death.

protip: lining up your labels with your valves help you find punctures in your tubes.
