Exactly. Just because a component isn't exclusively used on the track, that doesn't mean it ceases to be a track component. Nitto makes plenty of road components too, their NJS stuff just isn't among it. Whether the NJS Pearl is almost identical to a road stem or not, it was still intended for the track. Hell, the clamp diameter wouldn't even fit most modern road drops.

you should know. you have road bars in your 25.4 clamp nitto.

and if you're gonna say an aluminum classic bend bar isn't a "modern bar"...just think about whether a quill stem is a modern stem...

Okay, next you think about the word "most" and what it means in that context. Take a look at this page and tell me how many bars you can find with a 25.4 CD. https://www.benscycle.net/index.php?m...ath=75_128_129

well, here is a total of 8 bars that are 25.4 clamp and aren't track bars:
nitto B-115 ROAD bar.
nitto B-135 RANDO bar.
nitto B-617 PROMENADE bar.
nitto RM-016 MUSTACHE bar.

also at universal cycles you can get:
soma oxford bar.
soma sparrow bar.
nitto flat street bar.
dimension road bar.

face it, calling a stem a track stem because it has an NJS stamp and a 25.4 clamp diameter is dumb.

No dumber than calling a stem with an NJS stamp and a 25.4 clamp a road stem because it's level.

Agreed. But they don't put it on non-track components.

you're rediculous.
show that stem to anyone* and they'd call it a road stem.

someone already stated why those stems (in a traditional road extension angle) have an NJS stamp.

Because people were tired of exclusively using negative rise stems on their track bikes because it basically forced them to use a bicycle that was too big for them and wanted more wiggle-room when it came to frame sizing? Yeah, score one for you, I guess...

Show that to most people and they'd call it a quill stem. Ask them if it's for track or road and they'd probably just look at you funny and say "both?" Show them the NJS stamp and give them the basic idea of what it means and they might hesitantly take my side.

uhhh, not really...

a. Nihon Jitensha Shinkōkai, or Japan Keirin Association, often abbreviated NJS, is the council responsible for fostering Japan's bicycle industry and regulating keirin racing in Japan.

b. Keirin is a track cycling event in which racing cyclists sprint for victory.

now, please stop.

you should have at least gone up to the 55. it looks like you would be riding over the front too much.
