Great Old School Trek, but how in the hell is that stem not past it's minimum insertion point.

jackson says he is sick of how people keep asking him **** about the "royale wit' cheese," and is hoping that this movie will put an end to that mess.

he's also the one who insisted on the title.

i hope he gets a % of the gross, because like three times as many people will see this **** because of the name

It's a 330mm setback seatpost. I'm 6'4" and I find these Thompson seatposts to work really well on every bike I've put them on. They're located right next to the nitto technomic stems in the Grandpa section of my LBS, no I didn't get it from Rivendell... I can understand you guys givin' me grief over the stem, but what the hell is "wrong" with the sprocket?

i just realized that the sprocket is probably fine. i guess with that 80cm seat tube everything else just seems... small. sorry if that brings up any other issues, that would be unintended.

No sweat... it's 40 x 17 right now, just went down from 40 x 15. We have some pretty nasty hills around town in Knox-vegas, so I'm learing to spin faster for the time being. 72 gear inches was just a little too much for mashing up those steep, long climbs, but I may go back to it eventually.

I getting used to comments on my seatposts :D

That things rocks. Someday I'll post my 84 Trek 400. It's not as nice as yours, but you gotta love those old Treks. I'm sportin the small chainring on mine too. I thought it looked funny at first on mine, but now I like it. I was originally runnin the large chainring with a 13t sprocket in the back but had to accept the fact that my legs do not have super human strength. It was fun running that gear ratio for a while though....it made everyone think I was crazy/stupid....they were right.

It looks like you could use a substantially bigger frame, my friend.

It's really not that bad. It's a 61cm frame, I have a similar Trek 610 that's a 63cm. They both feel fine. I'm sure I could ride a 65cm if I could find them; but I run what I brung... which is to say my wife put the lock-down on frame or bike purchases for the time being, even if it's to replace current inventory...

acavengo 08-07-06 02:51 PM

KnoxBreezer, what stem do you have there? How far from the headset does that come out?

Your look reminds me of my Schwinn conversion, though unlike me you have a good reason to be running such a long stem. My Schwinn is about a 53cm and to get my bars where I want them I had to get a long stem like that. I really should be on something more like a 56 or 57 though b/c my stem is out about 5.5 inches and I have a good bit of extra standover height.

I't a ' 70's Raleigh lugged steel which I sandblasted and sprayed in a BMW.Sauber theme. Brakeless. She's a total blast to ride, and my legs feel like rocks because of her.

Thats hot. though, i have to ask, why sauber? and shouldn't you have a couple of rabbit ears sticking up from the handlebars? ;)
The only thing i would do is change either the tape or the saddle. I think the one piece of brown looks kinda wierd. Although, i'm an opponent of function before form, so I guess I can't complain too much.

DerekRI 08-07-06 07:42 PM

I like the invisi-straps on the pedals :) I keed, I keed, nice ride!

CrimsonKarter21 08-07-06 07:55 PM

The rabbit ears are what everyone at my racing forum suggested. I had a picture of a couple of envelopes taped on the top tube, but alas, it got deleted.
The pedals are changed whenever I go out for a ride to some Shimano SPD-R's. I'm getting some new (MKS, I think) pedals with stainless toe clip and leather straps.

Hehe, nice. You could also do the viking horns from the seatpost. I have the MKS sylvans on my bike and I'm happy with them. But, seriously, Sauber?

I'm a HUGE BMW fan, and Jacques *was* one of my favorite drivers of all time.
