did you use yellow cotton tape, stained brown, and shellaced? Thats what I did and got a pretty good match to my brown brooks too.

I actually dyed brown tape maroon. Its hard to tell in the photos because of the color balance. I bought a maroon team pro and then couldn't find matching tape anywhere so I improvised.
