yeah, cities seem overwhelm (is how we write that?) this year. here on the north shore of montreal i got snow up to my hips... and that's in the backyard... after 2 days of over zero temp... i never thrown that much gas in the snow blower then this year, and i got a new one 'cause the other past away. i don't have any curb (is that the side of he side walk) since last year... hope it'll still be there this spring :-)

Are those the same as the Andel/Alien cranks? How do you like them?

yup andel. for what they are they are pretty stiff w/o having to resort to going sugino but that really doesn't matter w/ street riding. I guess it's a perk having 144bcd on a pair of decent cranks ???

one of my roommates has those cranks, they look and feel good to me. he put a zen chainring on there and it felt even better.
nice build, gyes.

why are your bikes getting down graded insted of up graded?
I don't understand unless you have a stable in which case we need a stable shot

this is the reason for buying the Iro. How many regular track bikes can do this with big tires?

Hi wroom - you're right. I undid the cluster, kept the gear I wanted to use (14T, I think), and used a bunch of spacers to centre it / line it up to the chainwheel. The smaller gear on the end is threaded and holds the whole cluster together. Works fine.

I have now almost completely moved away from using the typical threaded hub + freewheel for my singlespeeds. I would use a (Hyperglide) freehub and spacers. This allows for an almost unlimited freedom for setting the chainline, and the freehub will survive MUCH longer than any freewheel ever could.

I didn't feel like diggin up my old thread. It's done. The DA cranks are going onto a Giant Omnium when I get it, and replaced with Sugino 75's. I'm still messing around with the stem, so one grip is off.

there's no need to upgrade all the time, I like having a middle ground, not all nice bikes. I sold the GT since it was too small and a full aluminum bike sucks on long rides. The Cannondale was a trade off for the Veloce since NO aluminum bike is as good as a steel lugged bike to me due to longevity (no matter how great the C'dale was). I consider the Veloce a blend of the C'dale and the GT with the C'dale's color and the triple triangle of the GT while having the best of both worlds being a lugged steel frame (it did take 2 days for me to even consider letting the Cannondale go though). The IRO is the all 'rounder that can do all since I can fit 32mm tires on it and it is ideal in the winter (it really is a versatile frame). Of course over in Cali yall guys are spoiled with rarely any snow . I sold my conversion (aka Black Widow) since I was getting the Iro and it replaced it's task of beater. I figured someone could use a good starter bike. So I'm left with 3 fixed bikes: Veloce, Carlton Flyer, and Iro (2 nice bikes, 1 beater/do all bike). Atala's sold since it's too big. What I do is if I buy something or want to, I sell something in order to keep the homeostasis.
this is the reason for buying the Iro. How many regular track bikes can do this with big tires?

Nice find. Cyclops' are lovely bikes. Mike Mulholland passing was a loss to the framebuilding art.
