Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Grinder in the background makes the bike appear to be a very alert rabbit.

Nice Salsa, it looks like it'll be a ton of fun once spring finally gets here.

Haven't really changed anything from when I bought it. Used on the road right now (hence the front brake) but hoping to hit the track once I get some money.

Better pictures coming in the daylight.

Here's the slightly modded Messenger. Bike came from Craigslist. I added the Deep Vs, bars, brake Cane Creek aero levers, and tape.

I still need to get my SPD pedals on and...possibly change the seat. It's actually a pretty comfortable Vuelta.

Wow.. this is hands down one of the best looking bike i've seen in a while. Can i ask how you like that frame? Is the geometry nice and relaxed, or do you still feel like you're riding a "track" bike.

Thanks, JDB.

thanks!

JDB, to be honest i haven't ridden any other "track" frames other than a Pista around a parking lot for a few minutes, so i can't really offer a comparison. however, the bike is pretty comfortable on the road and feels solid on the roughest pavement. i haven't ridden it for longer than 20 miles in one sitting so to speak, but i didn't notice any severe discomfort. i had to fool around with the seat height and stem/bar position for a week or two before i found the comfort zone, but i don't think that had much to do with the frame geometry. hope this answered your question to some degree!

Here are few of my fixed gear. I just finished building it last week in time to ride it to NAHBS. Handbuilt frame, fork, and one piece stem/hbar by myself. 4130 tubing, lugged everywhere with a fillet brazed bottom bracket.

Any chance of some close-ups of the stem and joints?
