My new IRO: does this look right to you?

Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

My new IRO: does this look right to you?

Fresh out of the box (50cm). Riddle me this: since when do Mark Vs come with slanted top tubes? I thought the downtube is supposed to be more oval than that. Why didn't Tony ship my bike with a saddle? Why is there a dent in my top tube?

Get ahold of Tony. He's good about customer service. The dent may be something you have to take up with the shipper.

This is just speculation, but the slanted top tube may be because you've got a pretty small frame.

Tiny frames get sloping top tubes.

I dunno about the rest.

Is that air duct filthy or simply mounted improperly? The dented toptube may be a symptom of a larger problem.

Upon further inspection I believe both my previous statements to be true. This isn't looking good for you.

Yea, if the dent is this noticeable from a picture, its way outside the expected damage from shipping. Tony is a great guy, he'll hook u up with a new frame for probably free. If not, you could be a dick about it and challenge the charge on your credit card.

the 50cm mark V is a great bike though. had good times on that for all of 6 months before some guy thought it was nice too and jacked it.

The sloping top tube is totally normal for the 50cm size. My IRO was set up almost exactly as yours, and it fit me great at 5'4".

Anyway, that dent is BS. You need to replace that ****. And give the old frame to me.

Ah! I knew something else was screwy but couldn't pin it down. I was actually referring to the appearance of sheet rock inside the interior edge of the vent earlier. It being upside down is even worse.

I can't stand a dude who doesn't pay attention.

it's because your iro has a headbadge. the ones that come with headbadges also come with dented TTs and no saddles. mine doesn't have a headbadge but it also doesn't have a dented TT.

but really, i don't understand his headbadge system. i'm pretty sure it's random.

I doubt this is UPS's doing, as the box arrived in near pristine condition. The bike was packed pretty well, with all major parts isolated and anchored with zip ties, and tubes covered in protective cardboard.

The dent looks like the frame had been punched with a blunt chisel, and not the kind of crush damage typical of UPS transit.

I assembled the bike with the protective cardboard tubes intact so as not to scratch it during the assembly, unaware of the surprise waiting beneath.

Seems like the OP has himself covered one way or another and whoever is at fault is irrelevant to everyone but the person found to be at fault.
