Umm...that's Yojimbo's.

lordgold 12-27-07 12:56 AM

If you've seen A Fistful of Dollars, you've essentially seen Yojimbo. Sergio Leone pratically stole the plotline from Akira Kurosawa.

1) he could have misspelled it
2) I know its not, i just thought for a second after skimming the thread real fast
3) thats some uber spelling police you are pulling there.

xylophonecks 12-27-07 08:46 AM

that really wouldn't be a spelling error, more of a syntax one... right?

time bandit 12-27-07 08:51 AM

Don't dis Leone, the Man with No Name trilogy is brilliant despite it's plotline being taken from several Kurosawa films.

agreed. it was no secret they were remakes. and they were damn fine as far as remakes are concerned.

Oh No 12-27-07 09:59 AM

Kurosawa wins.

pitboss 12-27-07 10:03 AM

good flick

I am a big fan of Kurosawa and his films.

ch0mb0 12-27-07 12:00 PM

"akira kurosawa's dreams" = big thumbs up

also, futurama (arbitrary OT comment)

lordgold 12-27-07 12:24 PM

I'm not dissing Leone in anyway, I'm a huge fan of The Man With No Name movies. For a Few Dollars More is probably one of my favorite all time movies.

Zombie Carl 12-27-07 12:30 PM

Well, Leone may have been influenced by Kurosawa, but Yojimbo is taken directly from a Dashieel Hammet short (a friend lives in, and gives tours of, Hammet's old apartment here in SF).

And, of course, there's nothing wrong with this. All artists are influenced and inspired by other artists.

There are a bunch of western remakes of Kurosawa's films. Seven Samurai is a lot better than its remake The Magnificent Seven, but both are worth watching.

No_Minkah 12-27-07 12:46 PM

Don't forget about the best of all the remakes, Bruce Willis' Last Man Standing.

Zombie Carl 12-27-07 12:47 PM

omg i herd kurosawa stole a story idea from shakespeare!

hanjin 12-27-07 02:01 PM

Shogun Assassin still rocks more *****!

fetch 12-27-07 02:06 PM
