Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Thank you, you put it better than I could have done myself.

Manifold Man: I actually like the bike, and I'm glad you ride it for whatever reason you choose. But (as a seperate issue) I find it suspect that you talk about "fixie-culture" as if it were some sort of country-club you were trying to buy your way into.

I guess you're right, there are some people that ride bikes that don't replace car trips with bike trips but many if not most people use thier bikes for at least some of thier transportation needs. I'm not really concerned with their motivations for doing so.

And on another note, I know some of you would like to think that "fixie culture" is not for sale, but it is. Some of you just bought it sooner than others, now stop trying to pretend you're all OG and ****.

Folks be selling bikes and bike gear for nearly a century. I'm sure there's plenty of bikes in stock.
