Titanium/light 10mm axles?

Took a spill on nye (gf cut me off with a sharp left while i was in her blindspot which turned my front wheel hard) and fuxed my rear axle. Still works, but i was thinking about replacing it. It's a hollow steel axle, whatever comes on the mavic ellipse wheelset. I was thinking about replacing it with something lighter if avalable. i know bmx hubs are sometimes made with 14mm titanium axles; do you guys know if there are 10mm ones? If not, do you know of any especially light hollow axles? I figure if i'm replacing it, i may as well shed a few grams in the process.

The rear axle is one of the last places I would try to shave weight.

XTR hubs have 10mm titanium axles and it's usually not too hard to find small parts for Shimano gear. You'd have to cut it down. I wasn't even aware that the Ellipse axles were hollow.

neither was i until what i now realize is a welded cap on the end tore off from the spill. pretty nutty.
the strap clip from my rx-1 is bent too. kinda sucks...

i've heard all sorts of claims about how much of a ***** it is to replace hub components with the ellipse wheelset. all sorts of proprietary and what have you.

i know it can probably be done, but i get the feeling it'll be waaaay more of anexpensive hassle than you want it to be. its also possible that the hub body will only work with another mavic axle.

i see.
maybe i'll just grab another mavic hollow axle. i'll email them and post a reply...
