Sugino Messenger Chainring (Silver)
 

Does anyone know where I can get a silver Sugino Messenger chainring? Or is it only available in Japan? Is it even out yet?

Well, the Zen chainring is considerably more expensive than the Zen Messenger.

You can always buy the black messenger and strip the anodizing off of it.

while we are here, whats the riding quality of the sugino zen (90 dollar one) like? are they noticeably smoother? rounder? what?

i hear the tooth valleys(?) wear easily. is that true?

Yes i have seen the ZEN messenger (144 BCD) in silver, but I have not seen the plain "messenger" (130 BCD) in silver.

I don't think they make one, in silver.

I didn't think so either then I saw sugino's website I linked to in the first post. There it says they make a 130 BCD messenger chainring in black blue and silver. So far I have only seen black for sale. Maybe blue and silver are new and haven't been released into the wild yet?

the blue ones are stock on langster "london" editions, so i'm sure you can get them.

the only difference between the zen and messenger is that the zen is 144 bcd and the mess is 130 bcd. the track chainring is as round as an 80 dollar chainring should be, i've been riding mine for 8 months or so and i haven't seen much premature wear..

gregtheripper - that is not quite true. there are sugino messenger rings in both 144 and 130bcds. until very recently, also, the messenger rings only came in smaller sizes (42-46. 48t has been added this year). the sugino zen is a higher quality chainring that is njs certified and come in 45-55t sizes.
