I thought about posting this in the "What music are you listening to?" thread but I thought it kind of deserved its own thread. I just signed up on Pandora and I'm really digging it. It's a pretty awesome way to be introduced to new music, and there are so many music nerds here I thought it might be fun to do a forum station.

I checked out the FAQ and I'm not sure if it's possible to create a truly collaborative station where everyone contributes continuously and the group can listen to the same results, but it's possible to "make a shared station your own", so you can take the existing song/artist seeds from the shared station and add/subtract/rate stuff. This is probably for the best anyway since everyone is going to have different ideas of what they want to listen to. Pandora uses the existing song/artist list to pick other artists it thinks you'll like and is sometimes (though not too often) dead wrong.

Since I've got nothing better to do I can administrate.

Here's what I'm proposing.

1. Pick 5 artists you would like other forum members to hear or think others might enjoy and either post them here or PM me and I'll add them.

2. PM me your e-mail if you want to "make the station your own". You can then customize it on your own account, add your own favorite, get rid of stuff you think sucks, etc...

I've already created the station (named "bfssfg") so you should be able to search for and play it now. Edit: The link is now in my signature.

I'm new to this, so if there's a better way to accomplish this, let me know.

Woah, awesome idea. I'll start working on my top 5 - I'm always awful about things when people ask me 'what's your fav?' or 'what's your top 5/10/whatever?'.

I was trying to think of a way to share our stations with each other but I'm not sure how to go about it. It doesn't seem like you can just post a link to your station.

I will do this, but people have to give you artists/songs that Pandora HAS, they don't have everything. Like Clarias, my favorite band, not on Pandora. Very disappointing.

Yeah. There are a few glaring omissions but for the most part I've been surprised. Even my friend's self-released album is there.

EDIT: This brings up a good point though. Please make sure Pandora actually has all the artists you're requesting first before posting or PMing me so I don't have to ask you for alternates. Thx.

This happened like a half year ago to everyone outside the US:

"We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for most listeners located outside of the U.S. We will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora, but for the time being we are required to restrict its use. We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative. "

so, when do you need lists by? i'm going to make a list, and try to keep some of the ultra-br00tal stuff out, it would be weird to hear wilco followed by gorgasm or necrophagist or something.

for some reason i thought this was not about pandora but rhapsody, which i ain't gonna pay for, so i didn't click this for the longest time.
