BSNYC Elusive Photo in Bicyling
http://www.bicycling.com/article/1,6...6615-1,00.html
http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...wickedgood.jpg The more info we get the more questions we have. 1) what bars are those? Some hybrid between a moustache and a walker racer? 2) why does BSNYC bear an eerie resemblance to the species he lampoons? We are going to have to send Secial Forces like Martin Sheen like in Apocalypse Now to find this guy. He is the Colonel Kurtz of Cycling. He dispenses wicked good humor to glossy-eyed fans who eat it up, but feel guilty about it. PBR Streetgang this is Almighty--please report back. |
My strategy is to just avoid that guy's blog because it's stupid.

relative to the mean-spirited humor. No wait, the humor is worth it, but I would never go there myself because I don't want to dissuade anyone from cycling. |

I find his blog hilarious, but too lacking in affirmation of cycling

old news....
I can sum this whole **** up with one Freudian theory: "The Narcissism of Small Differences" read up knuck if you buck |

To be honest I've never read an entire entry in his blog, however, I have been too dozens of writer's workshops this past year and am all too familiar with his "style." It's just not for me.

where his picture is relevant, but the search function has been wacky lately |

I can sum this whole **** up with one Freudian theory: "The Narcissism of Small Differences" read up knuck if you buck BSNYC here--he is just really funny, yet elusive-- maybe it is your personal relationship to his blog. I don't hate on BSNYC--I relish his blog. The narcissism of small differences--i.e. the excessive combativeness of people of the same group--does not apply. |
I like prolly's blog better. haha
|
I'm not dissing Bike Snob on a Knob. I visit and comment on that blog a lot. I'm saying people who get all offended by him just need to read up on the narcissism of small differences. It explains everything.
|
The only thing that separates him from the "hipsters" he loathes is a front brake and a hoodie. Although the "69" hat is either ironic or a throwback to his fratboy years.
|
i expected him to be much nerdier. he looks like he has some style and is possibly younger than i thought. he's very good at writing. now i see he has a nice bike and is probably not a geek .
|
I don't know man, there was a podcast interview with him and what'shisname and I detected a fair bit of nerd nasality to his voice.
|
Yeah, I kind of pictured him a little fatter and slovenly, no slim and trim. When I listened to some Podcasts, it confirmed my suspicions (based on his writing) that he's a fellow Jew. His nasaly, my-uncles-in-Brooklyn-and-the-Bronx voice gave it away.
|
i hate reading other peoples' blogs. rants injected with personal opinions frustrate me.
that said, i love bikesnobnyc. it's lol funny at times, and at others kinda insightful. i used to read it every day, but now i ignore it for a week or so in order to save it up for a slow day at work. incidentally, i do the same thing with Lost (thus far the only tv show i can stomach). I wait five or six episodes, then download hd rips and watch them all on a single saturday next to a case of beer and empty food delivery bags.

2) link to podcasts; i had no idea. are they funny? |
fat because he admits to losing races... often
|
well, you know. we can't all be winners
|
Yeah, not fat fat, but like Fat Cyclist fat. I guess I expect him to be older and more out of shape because.
As for the podcasts, he's posted them on his blog, so I'm sure you could just search there. They're both funny and poignant. |
Is it necessarily the man himself in the photo? I don't see anything specifically indicating that it is, but maybe I missed it?

what if its not him and he really is an overweight nerd? he'll then have to hide his real identity forever since this stand-in younger slim model on a bike has received approving comments and invented his online image... |
Yeah, it's obvious from some of his posting that he reads this board.
As for the photo, obviously it could be a stand-in, but I believe he claimed that it was him somewhere in a past entry. He could be lying, but obviously anyone could be lying about any number of things. |

I don't remember the specifics, but he has posted a thing or two that I think he must have either read here, or had emailed to him by a forum reader.
