I was going to say something along the lines that there have always been as many OT posts and even I'd go on a limb and say that there have been about as many OT threads - but the "OT" prefix wasn't used.

But then I changed my mind and decided to just say this thread is OT and so is your momma.

Mods are weak. SSFG is becoming foo. But I am guilty of posting OT BS myself, but it has gotten moved everytime, good job to mods for that.

Petition to change the meaning of OT to "on-topic" since the majority of the drivel that gets slung against the bathroom stall wall that is BFSSFG is off-topic in the first place.

I think the reason why people start so many OT threads is because they want the opinions of the fixed-gear crowd, not necessarily the rest of the bicycling crowd. Just a thought.

Maybe the mods can make an OT section in the SSFG section. On second thought that sounds really stupid.

It seems like, ever since the "OT" preface was contrived a few weeks ago, that people feel they have license to post whatever inane thing pops into their heads at any time. The moderators have actually encouraged it (no surprise), so don't expect them to clamp down anytime soon.

I dunno, I totally DIG the new format of SSFG these days. It started to improve more or less when blickblocks was taken on the mods board. Not saying it's his contribution, not saying it isn't, just saying...

Lots of OT's because in many places around the world it's too cold/snowy/whatever to ride??

...anyway, SSFG has WAY more OTs than other groups. I'm in favor keeping things on-topic, myself.

If you want to ask who owns a horse, post elsewhere!

i totally agree.

oh, word of warning: if you don't want to read threads about people owning horses, don't click the thread that reads: "OT - who here owns a horse?"

it might not work out so well for you.

Right now, in the future, there are a group of ethnographic researchers analyzing the stupid thread.

This is a sensible advice, but it requires a lot of deep concentration and a keen and highly developed intelligence. Sadly, people blessed with such gifts are rare.

Case in point: you would think that if one doesn't like gorditas, he/she wouldn't go to a Mexican restaurant AND order gorditas. And yet, we can clearly see the opposite happening all the time, accompanied by bithcing how they don't like gorditas.

Oh, wait...

no we don't.
