So, probably instead of tough I should have said easier...and to skid easier I should go up to 23 or go lower then 19? do spin less should I up the cog or lower the cog tooth? I'm still a newbie give me a break.

If you want to skid easier you need a cog with more teeth. If you do this you will also spin more.
OR If you want to spin less(why? its good for you) then you need a cog with fewer teeth. This will also make it harder to skid. there you go newb. |
If you're looking for a 23T cog, just get a smaller chainring that will give you an equivalent gear ratio.

23T, well I'm not sure. Where do you live?
I'm from SF and have always swore on (many do) 46x19/or 20T. But you never said where you're from and how hilly is hilly, you know what I mean mate. |

you remember that shifting your body weight more to the front, away from the back wheel, will make you skid when you lock your feet? so why not work on that first. |
i run 48-20, a 65 inch ratio. im a weak ass 5'6 and 65 inches is almost TOO low. Skidding is effortless, any lower and it will be like riding a kids bike. the difference between 70 and 65 is HUGE. any lower than 65 and i would be surprised if you pass 15mph. trust me dont drop below 65 unless you have some kind of knee injury
http://software.bareknucklebrigade.c...it.applet.html ^^that will help you figure out inches and skid patches. if you want something easily skiddable, id say go with a cog between 18 and 20. |
