2nd Shift messenger job?
Anybody know of a company in NYC doing deliveries between, say, 7ish and midnight? (edit: no food)
I'm working full time now, but need a second job for some extra cash. Thanks in advance! |
Wouldn't a delivery job seem to make more sense at those hours?
|
^Not if you are delivering dinner
|
yeah working as a mule
or food delivery |
you can dislike food delivery all you want, but it pays amazingly for the time put in. haha.
|
i'm making great money with my DSLR and bike, doing freelance paparazzi work. I can hit all the hot spots around town as soon as I get the tips.
|
hah thats awesome, where do you get tips from?
|
yeah i guess being a bike messenger is so much more sexy than delivering food. but i think people forget that u can make so much freaking money. i make about 150 a night, and i only do about 15 runs. but alas, u want to deliver heavy **** up and down all over the place for what, humm, 2 bucks a drop and pickup. i have never heard of any messenger companies doing deliveries that late. i spoke to squid yesterday about it, and the latest he said was 7.

The only delivery service I could find at those hours was... well... ahem... for a particular product... ahem... usually associated with late night munchy's... ahem... Not something I want to get into. Thanks for the info man. |

I've been seriously considering quitting my current job as a theater stage hand(inconsistent hours, difficult but sort of enjoyable work, cool coworkers, maybe work 10 hours on average a week) and looking for a place that will hire me as a bike delivery guy, probably Jimmy Johns because those are the only ones i've seen around.
Like right now i live in a dorm so i don't really need that much money to survive(rent and food is already paid for) but after June when my lease on my house starts i'm gonna have to pay for rent and ****, I'm gonna need a little bit more money than I do now to buy like enough beer to get drunk on weekends and the occasional out to eat dining. |
i work at jimmy john's and on average (including tips) i make about 16 dollars an hour.
|
Just suck it up and do food delivery. You'll make more money than you will messengering, especially within the time period you want to be working.

Is the one in the UD the only one that delivers or are they doing it out of Down Town as well?

Why don't you want to deliver food? $150 a night, 75% of which is probably spent riding to the restaurant or apartment. Sounds decent to me. You can always call yourself a food courier too.
|
Ive been delivering pizza (in my car) for over a year and deli food for like 4 years before that. Tips are the best its like 15-20 dollars an hour tips, 7 bux hourly and they pay my gas per run but I get 40+ Mpg so I keep most of that too. If I lived somewhere where I could use my bike to sling pies I'd save 25 bucks a week on gas and 500+/- a year on traffic and other violations.
get a food job. |
sounds like an in-house gig will best suit you. i remember tone was doing evening video rental runs for a while in my neighborhood; not sure what he does now though.
|
craigslist -> food/bev -> search "bike"
|
tone works for top notch, bike messengering.
squid: damn it squid, humm, i swore someone, which i thought was u, stopped delivering at 7. well, there u go op, bother squid for a job at cyclehawk |
ok, i got it. it was breakaway that stops delivering at 7. i knew i wasnt crazy.
