apparently you can pre order them, though I can think of a handful of frames I would rather buy for 530 bones. That would indicate they will eventually make it to production. I think it looks like a pretty frame, but not 530 dollars pretty.

conor 01-27-08 05:58 PM

wait, aren't fbm frames handmade? maybe?

deathhare 01-27-08 10:58 PM

So, its handmade crap.
Ill take 20!

humancongereel 01-28-08 12:09 AM

4130? $530? boooooo.....

but they are HAND MADE, and LUGGED!
How could the hipster inside you resist!?!??!?!

deathhare 01-28-08 08:48 AM

There are no lugs.
Steve Crandall doesnt know what a damn lug is.

willypilgrim 01-28-08 10:48 AM

i was excited about this frame. i'd rather get an affinity for almost 200 less, or a pista concept or something similar for around the same price.

you guys have no idea what you're talking about. the welders at fbm have been making handmade bmx, mountain, and road/cyclocross frames for many many years. remember spooky cycles? that wasn't just frank the welder building frames. fbm pushes out the nicest and strongest frames in bmx. they will be laughing all the way to the bank as the first batch is already gone. these guys are the nicest, friendliest, down to earth guys in the world and being in NY, they decided to build one for their messenger friends and everything got off the ground. im trading in my bareknuckle for a 51 trans aqua so call me crazy but i can tell you it will be the last commuter i will have to get for a while. if only i could find a good lugged 1 1/8" track fork. maybe ill save the fork off my bareknuckle or get a black one from EAI.

I was mistaken. balls.
Dont buy it. As much as people like to make a big deal about it, welding ISNT as elusive a skill as its made out to be. Making frames that look good, however, is.

afterbangin 02-09-08 03:25 PM

beauty is in the eye of the beholder. that is the most intelligent opinion ive ever heard on this website in a long time.

frankstoneline said they were lugged. i saw the pics, so i disagree with that statement.

Eh, BMW seems to be selling a few of those monstrous "Gangster" frames, which are 4130 and almost $800 as I recall. There's at least a precedent for that pricing, although the welds on the BMW don't look like mashed potatoes.

I was clearly mistaken in my assessment that there may be a reason they are priced as they are because I thought they were lugged. Deathhare simply corrected my misjudgement, making me realize there is ABSOLUTELY no reason to buy that frame. buy a bareknuckle if you want a solid welded steel frame or a pista concept if you want aluminum.

jim-bob 02-09-08 09:22 PM

If these were the guys that welded up those spooky frames, they've got the touch. I'd be into checking one of those bikes out.
