That whole thing ruled. Cardiel is the stupidest genius ever.

Zombie Carl 03-21-08 05:22 PM

Definitely one of my heros.

That story about Gonz wrecking in traffic and riding away on a front flat and un-true like nothing just happened was funny.

still can't get over his poor fit

also the fact that like 3/4 of this was filmed at burnside

bonelesschicken 03-23-08 09:49 AM

I don't skate and never did but I love watching Epicly Later'd. So entertaining...

wow, you're seriously upset that cards skated burnside? guarentee he ripped it harder ten years ago than anyone on this board ever will in their lifetime.

I don't know if he's upset, I think he's saying that he can't get over it because it's so cool. At least that's how I read it.

And as a point of clarity, no one will ever rip Burnside harder than Cardiel, period.

i'm pretty partial to brent atchley (http://youtube.com/watch?v=JTCP3nxHvWQ&feature=related), but maybe that's because i grew up watching him skate burnside before he went pro, he's a local, and i've never seen anyone skate tranny with as buttery smooth of a style. seen him do crazier stuff than in the skate videos as well.

cockbag 03-23-08 02:26 PM

atchley looks really good on his board, and I even like his fruity little back-foot donkey-kick things he does before he pushes (no joke)

cardiel is just gnarly as hell and I LOVE that! I think everyone I know wishes they could skate like him.

andre nickatina 03-23-08 02:28 PM

yep, two contrasting styles for sure. cardiel was fast, rough and raw.
atchley is smooth, makes things look a lot easier than they are, and occassionally dishes out some fruity ****... :)

cockbag 03-23-08 02:30 PM

btw, how old is that Etiquette video? I've never even heard of it - looks sick though

andre nickatina 03-23-08 02:40 PM

no idea, just did a quick youtube for footage of atchley.

I lived there for a year and pulled more in that place with Red and Sage present than I can brag about anywhere else and I can tell you that the 2 hour sesh I was a part of in 98' with Cards, Navs, Drohobl, and Loda Crooks and a few more present was dominated by John and no one else. When he drops everyone stops to watch. I'm bummed that has been taken from him. I ripped my local rat trap today in his honor after watching the last installment this morning. Get better big man. You'll never fade in our eyes.

andre nickatina 03-23-08 09:39 PM

thanks for dropping the knowledge. portland's a small world. my doctor was telling me about red approaching him, early 90's, for cement.

pazzmore 03-23-08 10:10 PM

Atchley rides more like a hip-hop version of Trujillo to me. Effortless. Cards does not make things look effortless... that's the beauty of him.. brutal slams and all. I do dig Atchley's loose style.

The last time I rode Burnside was in 2003 and it was my first time there. Made the mistake of going at 5pm or so and it was PACKED with all the locals (including Q in the crow's nest talking TONS of ish to anyone and everyone and throwing empty cans at kooks). Took me like 20 minutes to get the nerve to drop in on you dudes. Slammed super hard several times, but ended up having one of the most memorable days of my 25+ years of skating. Great times. and oh yeah, I was easily the worst skater there that day (including the female locals). Burnside is no joke and takes time to figure out. I consider it in my top 3 skate spots of all time.
