New Wheels
The commuter I ride to school has a a 27 inch wheel set but now I need to make the switch to 700. The commuter isn't anything nice or fancy just an old kabuki skyway. I have the hubs for a new wheel set (36 hole)
and I can only find velocity deep Vs in 36 hole. The hubs are surly and those together would be (in my opinion) to nice for the kabuki (I ride it in winter and the salt and sand tear it up). If i were to build this wheel set it would outshine my steamroller's: surly hubs in alex DA22 s. What should i do, forget the new wheel set, Build up a nice one for the steamroller and give the kabuki the steamrollers old wheel set. -Thanks John |
build a nice set up, throw the old set up the beater.

You'll have to decide for yourself what wheels to put on what bike. But, the surly hubs can handle the grit and grime. The only thing you have to worry about is the bearings, and those can be easily replaced for cheap. I have surly hubs on my rain beater and they are still smooth after 3 years of riding in absolute ****, still with the original bearings.

36 spokes screams commuter. i'd put it on that and save for a nicer set on your nicer ride.
