Portland

Well, all signs point to me moving back out west for school this fall, probably Portland. What's the city like for bikes? I've been there loads of times but I haven't biked in it, ever.

solly81 02-25-08 10:09 PM

Seriously? There has got to be TONS of threads that could answer this question.

PDX Your Head.

zelah 02-25-08 10:10 PM

What college, out of curiosity?

hudsong 02-25-08 10:26 PM

A community college + working so I can pick up residency, then Portland State. I just need to finish school, and I was planning to move out there for graduate, but I cannot ****ing stand another moment in Lincoln, NE.

zelah 02-25-08 10:35 PM

**** school

hows nebraska? i'm thinking of moving there after portland to get in touch with my indie roots

felldownthewell 02-25-08 10:40 PM

Its just like nebraska but instead of fields we have hills, and instead of wheat we have trees and beavers. And instead of farmers we have hipsters. And instead of pickups we have bikes. And the roads are paved with recycled Kilo TTs.

hudsong 02-25-08 11:04 PM

For the record I've been wanting to move since I was 9 years old. Nebraska sucks, there's cool people in the good music scene, but nothing more.

thanks 02-25-08 11:08 PM

portland has the best music scene in the universe, so i think you'll be alright.

+8 million

zelah 02-25-08 11:20 PM

someone take me to one. i've only been to two. the first just had horrible car commercial style rock and they tried to charge me to get in. the other had dickbag "bouncers" that kept screaming at people and throwing their beers on the floor. both of these were in NE i think

Both of those sound like ****. They've gotten steadily more about partying and less about music since the summer, and a few houses (Noah's Ark and Brainstains) have closed recently, but they're still fun, especially if you know which ones to avoid and which are fun. PM me.

Maybe we can organize a SSFG forum posse to hit one up.

toddistic 02-26-08 12:06 AM

portland bike lanes are paved in gold, lights go red for all cars and bike shops are as plentiful as mana from heaven!

delicious 02-26-08 12:08 AM

i love house shows and don't know where to go to see them here in portland.

so, uh, can i come too? :D

splursurp 02-26-08 01:39 PM

portland is soooo cool... one of the few places in the states one can live in. ah rose city. there's still the occasional homicidal hick in an oldschool pickup that might try to swerve at you if you look at him wrong, but they be everywhere.

greets to any reedies floatin around..

Thanks for the love for the http://pc-pdx.com Show Guide! The website is getting completely redesigned to be more friendly and functional...
Know that we have a great house that we're going to start doing shows at in a matter of three weeks or so so check the Guide and come on over! -Right now we're converting the driveway:( into a huge row of bike racks:) because that's the way we roll we roll. Hammer time.

but either way, i'll be there.

ssspenser 02-28-08 01:40 AM

yeah theres going to be riding for sure. i believe its mostly on mt tabor. thats where the ghettodrome is. and the downhill race probably. but either way i know a lot of people will join in

delicious 02-28-08 01:44 AM

sweet. what is a ghettodrome?

ssspenser 02-28-08 01:53 AM

well if you have been to the top of tabor there is a circle around it just like a velodrome that we will be racing on. bikers often go up and bike around it for practice. its got a cool view to.
