Your falls of the week.
Wednesday - Riding home from school got cut off and ran into a curb. No injuries.
Thursday - Riding to school, took a right turn on ice too quickly, and fell hard. Minor bruises. Saturday - Thought it would be funny to do some off road riding on my fix, got stuck a few times and fell. No injuries. Monday - Riding home from school, all the snow was melting, and I went to pull out of a parking lot, but a car didn't see me and I had to swerve out of the way, front tire dipped into a pothole that was covered by a massive puddle, flipped over the handlebars and hit my elbow hard. Worst part about it was being completely soaked (bag, coat and pants were COMPLETELY drenched). Today - I was riding up a hill that was pretty icy, my wheel spun out I lost balance, smashed my elbow up. I hate falling, but I seem to do it every single day. Damn this stupid weather! |
You suck at riding a bike.
|
Haha, I'm just way too careful for that stuff.
I tried doing a skid indoors on tile and just failed and ran into a wall, but didn't fall off. |
Nope. Icy roads and not caring seem to be my demise, but my falls are usually funny.
|
I was literally blown over today. Just fell on a car's hood though.
|
you should probably get some different tires and/or change your riding style so that you don't die.
|
Yeah, seriously. I am just hoping spring comes soon.
|
Riding on the bike trail in town, was slowing down because my friend wanted to take a break, was moving real slow, took one foot out of my clips, didn't get the other one out, and fell, right into a large muddy puddle on the side of the path.

The visual of bender riding a bicycle and getting blown into the hood of a car makes me laugh. The visual of a person doing the same thing makes me laugh even more. |
wow that is quite a lot of falling! I have only gone down once due to getting stuck in the clips and once cat walking. I wouldn't say I ride super conservative either but I think you may want to settle it down a bit or just practice more. Glad your not getting hurt though!

They are mostly related to ice and not paying attention. I don't think its a matter of my skill. A lot were low speed, or me just ****ing around.
|
Hah, that suux man.
Yesterday I was outside the union, where swarms of people always congregate, and I unclipped my right foot and began to dismount, but my left was still in the clip so I ended up doing a slow motion fall onto the pavement, the the massive laughter of about 60 people. The only thing hurt was my pride :'( |
Hope you're rocking a helmet. Ice/not paying attention = concussions/other massive head traumas. Watch those cars.
Went riding today and played on the icy roads. Didn't fall but I was riding super timid |

I realize that you were avoiding a car at the time, but this reminds me: when I transitioned from MTB-ing to the road, I learned shockingly quickly that it's not *fun* to ride through puddles on a road bike. I quickly realized that under every puddle is a depression of some sort -- from gentle dip to unfathomable abyss. That's why there are puddles. And road bikes are not built to traverse such things.

I never crash. Never ever... which is why I am pissed I crashed last tuesday. Had to avoid a bunch of ******** pedestrians wandering into the bike lane rightin front of me, hopped a curb of sorts at a very acute angle and somehow got the rear wheel in the wrong place. I think I overdid it and managed to swing the rear end over to the other side of the 15-inch wide elevated ridge thingy and it never climbed up... Ate it but only my dignity was damaged.
Respect to you, ryansexton, for riding when it's snowy/icy out. I wuss out in weather like that. |
It was to swerve a car, and I know there were potholes, but it was a split second, and it was a massive dip in the road, so it wasn't like it was just a pothole, it was a huge pond like area, like a third of the road.

The other day I accidentally rode my bike into a bottomless pit. Luckily it was mislabeled and it actually had a bottom. I climbed out and I'm okay now.
A couple of weeks ago I pooped my pants. I don't know if that really has much to do with cycling though. |
on saturday i was riding my hardtail mtb parallel to a set of big long stairs in front of a municipal building and decided to try to climb the stairs by riding up one by one, while still going parallel to the stairs. i got to the last stair (10 or so) and as i was about to make the last hop to the flats up top, my rear tire got caught on the top stair, at which point i froze and instead of dismounting i tried to ride out of it but ended up tipping over sideways and falling all the way back down, tangled in my bike.
no falls on my fixed recently though. |
The last time I fell off my bike was in 2006, when my front wheel got eaten by a sewer grate. I even managed to stay on my bike last year, when I was broadsided by a car.
Oh, and I've fallen during CX, but that's expected. |
I just wiped on some really thick ice in the alley behind my house. Landed on my right knee and it's kind of sore. I'm more graceful about wiping at high speeds.
|
Took the track bike out on Sunday night... Ended up with both feet down, sitting on the top tube, sliding backwards down a hill. Had just enough drizzle freeze to look like wet pavement. Back the the winter beater and 38c tires.
