Depends on if the X-Games picks up brakeless FG riding... both race (with "rad" engineered to be like real street course) and freestyle. This is the same crap that happened to skating over 20 years ago.

I decided not to when some kind offered me $275 for it. Thats the price for a brand new Aerospoke. I figured hey if the demand is driving people to pay that much then i aint going to sell it just yet. Plus i love my Aerospoke.

it's only entertainment. besides, if MASH or fixed gear freestyle shesh trixxx gets more people to start riding bikes and having fun, then i'm not gonna complain about it.

I'd say yes. Not because I'm some elitist, though. The same **** happens in everything that was once "underground" but then gets thrust into the spotlight. I grew up in the hardcore/sxe scene in SF/Oakland/Santa Cruz in the mid-90s and can tell you that out of the 100 or so edge kids I used to bro down with, there's maybe five that I know of who are still edge. With two exceptions that I can recall, it was always the "straight edge champions" who peaced out the quickest after it wasn't "cool" to be edge anymore.
Whatever though, there's no reason to hate on anyone, time is the true test... let pretentious jerks be pretentious jerks and concentrate on your own life; the universe has a strange way of balancing itself out. |
I really don't get the obsession with all the Trickhatin' on this board. Why do you even care...and to all the BMX comments, acrobatic cycling came way before BMX and is done on a fixed gear with flipped dropbars.I wonder where that equipment came from.Btw i don't do tricks but it takes a lot of practice to get good at it and that means a lot of time on a bike. How is that bad?

I am not gung-ho about the MASH type stuff... Blatant jackhole riding is going to piss off cagers and probably result in a lot of kids trying to imitate and end up hurt/dead.
If you don't think people should be freestyle riding and playing around on track bikes.... take a second and ask if you should be riding your track bike on the street ;) People are just riding and having fun, absolutely nothing wrong with that (IMO). Remember, BMX bikes weren't originally for tricks, or were, dirtbikes, ATVs, shoes (parkour), etc. It is called progression and it is going to happen no matter what. |

sounds to me like you used to "bro down" with a bunch of weak assed fakers.
Instead of *****ing about growth, just wait another 5 years for the implosion and reap the rewards on CL. |
uh, this isn't about riding, it's about celebrity/fanbois.

Yeaaahhh I have to agree with that guy. I've had a fixed bike for a week now and I think learning to do stupid skid tricks and wheelies is f u c k i n g lame. I'm all about being able to get from point A to B as fast as possible, no flashiness required.

do you guys think thats true? not one of the guys waste there time on here(forums) they just ride the hell out of there bikes. |
2 wheels good, 4 wheels baaaaaaad.
Mash was a huge let down, not that I have anything against fixed gear tricks (I don't do any tricks, but if you can do barspins, then I will watch and be entertained.) but nothing in the video is even that cool. More interviews would be nice. The only thing I liked were the parts where cars would cut in front of them, and they would fishtail skid out of the way, that was crazy. Other than that, it was kind of boring. Also, That SF bike was hilarious. |
isn't there a pic or mag or something with all of the mash bikes?
i think mash is lame ass fanboi cliquery, but the idea of having my bike on some trading card type **** would be ill. i really love/jock my bike. |

i've been riding fixed for well over a year now, and i could care less about anyone 'bashing' on wheelies, tricks, carbon wheels or stickers ect.
if anyone wants to get rid of their aerospoke cause they're worried about being called a hipster, i''ll buy it. hopefully road bikes will become the next love/hate trend, cause i'm looking for a road bike and would like to see the market change in my favor. who cares. your only riding your bike. |
^ I second that, if anyone has an aerospoke they want to get rid ill be more than happy to take it off your hands
as for MASH I think its a very cool video, those guy have mad talent and big balls to do that **** and live |
fake doorings and ride through peds...brilliant. I wonder if we can get in this years Worlds. Come to Toronto!
|
The videos I've seen of messengers in NYC was a lot more interesting than the mash SF stuff. Pretty boring. Riding down hills, smoking cigs and doing skid stops? Flatland bmx and stuff is where it's at when it comes to acrobatics.
It's good if people see that and want to ride a bike. Can you argue with that? |
