We have a good size group playing here in Macon now. The bike scene is starting a revolution in Macon, Ga. A year and half ago, no one rode bikes around the town unless you were homeless. Now, we have a pretty good size scene coming together. We finally found a good central spot downtown to play and it grabbed a lot of attention from passers by. A bunch of people either stopped or slowed down to watch. Back on topic though, build you a comfortable beater. I prefer to use risers for the bars so nothing gets in the way. Also, just get some super cheap wheels are get some thin plastic and make wheel covers. You don't want to break spokes if you can help it.
This is awesome, there are people in Macon F-ing Ga. playing bike polo! I can't wait a for a couple more years and there willl be some seriously big tourneys going on. You guys don't have to wait for that though, you should make your way up to DC this April 27th-28th for the ESPI. After that, you guys should put together a tournament of your own and you might be surprised who shows up...those of us in NYC have been known to travel wherever there is polo. There are quite a few tournaments going on this Spring and Summer all over the place we would love to see you there. As for a shameless plug, you can check out www.newyorkhardcourt.com for a schedule and to see how we do it in the Big Apple. |
For everyone looking for a tutorial, I believe there is a great mallet building tutorial in one of the stickied DIY or How To threads.

How often does mallet-face contact occur?

I got the 29er ready tonight for sunday. It's been a long time since I was looking forward to something this much.
removed the front brake, flipped the lever to the left so i can use it while swinging the mallet. geared down to 33/18 and swapped the saddle from my road bike. I still need a disk for the front wheel and possibly cutting the bars down further then they are now. |
Found this video and it made me stoked to give it a try:
