My buddy's coming to Chi for a visit with his bike and I want to take him on a late night ride of the city. I want him to see cool things you'll only see on a bike. Secret little spots that'll blow his Cali mind. Any suggestions?

For a good view of the city, try a few places: the bridges over Damen between Diversy and Fullerton and at Halsted and Chicago (where you can stop at the Matchbox for a few. :beer:

my favorite skyline shot is when you round the shedd aquarium from the south side. Handlebar in wicker park too.

I like riding the east-west streets in the loop.
Any bar with the sign "Zimne Piwo" should provide for an interesting night...unless you want glitter and bull****.

why not show him Yojimbo's?

Marcus built my fixie and I'll always be thankful for revitalizing my cycling. Yojimbo's for sure. Want to bomb through lower Wacker late at night, then down Ohio to Cermak where bicycles never go, massive concrete expressway over your head. Head East and ride that service road under the McCormick convention center. Lake street is always cool, lower Michigan ave too. Frankie Z's on Clark for carbo loading.

A pre-dawn ride of the lakefront from Navy Pier to Englewood (63rd St) would be great. Watching the sun rise on a ride on a clear day is the best- the horizon is soooooo cool at that time of day.

There seem to be a lot of those in Chicago. What's up with that?!?

Interesting thing is that I wrote a song about Mexican tranvestites when I was in Chicago because it was weird in my eyes. I gues it's normal up there?

Take Lincoln north to Foster, turn left on Foster and go about 4 blocks and enter the bike path- stay left and make sure you take the entrance on the left. From there, you can take the bike path to Peterson, then jump out the path when it dead ends by turning left and riding the sidewalk past the McDonalds and jump onto Jersey street. Turn right on Jersey and ride it to the Borders. Go behind the Borders and through the back parking lot to Devon, and once you get to the end of the parking lot at Devon and McCormick, you'll see the start of the Skokie Sculpture Park path. That's a few miles of great riding with lots of interesting sculptures.

San Francisco has a lot of Philipino transvestites. Perhaps both Chi town and SF need a little cross cultural exchange.. eh?

hey, im not the expert on mexicano transvestites...i just live a few blocks from el gato negro, and its ususually something you hear late at night on the halsted bus or in supermercados..plus, you always hear about it working in kitchens in the city...mostly mexican crews...
