Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Yeah that happened once to me too. lace got caught in the pedal while spinning out. I had to make a quick stop and unwind it. Now I always double knot, but no hospitalization was involved. If the chain ever bites em though it generally cuts em right off.

There was a guy about 3 or 4 months ago that posted about heal time necessary for a broken ankle.

He was a pedicab without health insurance so he really needed to get back on his bike.

I guess his pantleg got caught in his gear, and it broke his ankle somehow probably while he was falling off.

Und Lenkerband ist ser schwul auch!

Bikes are fashionable?

(PS: roll or cut your pants, or eventually you will eat ****. I broke my ankle when my pant got wrapped, and that was my non-drive side.)

Seriously what kind of jeans do you people ride in? Bellbottoms? I've never had any problem with my pantlegs getting anywhere near my chain since I quit wearing jnco's in like 5th grade.

I always roll my pants, even though i'm riding geared these days. One thing that happens if I leave them unrolled is, the cuffs catch my empty bottle cage and bend it. After it's bent it's even easier for the cuffs to catch it again, leading to a self perpetuationg cycle of annoyance that ends only with me pulling over and rolling up my pants. I usually wear bootcuts btw.

I actually tend to wear pretty tight pants, and have caught my shiat. Yours must be painted on, or you have a magical bike that doesn't think you taste good enough to eat.
