Timbuk2 Medium Mess Bag at $32+SH at Steepandcheap...

edit: deal gone now

http://www.steepandcheap.com/

Red and silver, kind of ugly, but $32 + shipping = ~$40 for me. Maybe one of you guys want one.

str8flexed 03-22-08 12:26 AM

Or, better looking colors and larger sizes, for example X-large for $50 with free shipping at backcountry.com

You sure about that? I've got a large that I've had for a couple of years that isn't showing any wear at all. Just because you prefer a different bag doesn't necessarily make these garbage.

I would not go as far to say the timbuk2 bags are garbage.
I've had mine for over two years. Still rolling with it.
I carried at 40 pound vice in it too. No rips.

NitroPye 03-22-08 09:50 AM

They suck for riding (strap is horrible) but I've used one for my laptops for 6 years. No rips and still waterproof as all hell. Used to wear mine on my motorcycle with my old powerbook in it rain or shine.

tmanAg08 03-22-08 10:08 AM

What's a better alternative for riding in that price range?

Zombie Carl 03-22-08 12:14 PM

Well I guess people like them, but that strap system is not up to par IMO.

hudsong 03-22-08 12:22 PM

No personal experience with TB2 bags, but my friend hates how his digs into his skin. You get what you pay for...

pazzmore 03-22-08 12:46 PM

you gotta get the strap pad if you wanna carry any weight at all. i dig the smaller ones for school and such.

AHemp 03-22-08 01:19 PM

They are well-constructed, but the strap system definitely leaves something to be desired.

K_phomma 03-22-08 01:21 PM

All my teachers have timbuk2's and only 2 have Baileyworks

Bacchusbill 03-22-08 02:11 PM

I bought my TB2 12-13 years ago. It's been around the world and beat to hell and back, but it still is in pretty good condition. Not perfect condition, but considering its age it has character. Seems comfy to me no matter how full I pack it or how much it weighs, although i dont have the XL.

lymbzero 03-23-08 10:23 AM

definitely need the strap padding.

AHemp 03-23-08 04:47 PM

Winter booties right now!

SuperVillain 03-23-08 07:15 PM

2-person dome tents only $145.00!!!

bonechilling 03-23-08 08:04 PM

That was a good deal for that tent, plus the footprint. They go for that much or more on eBay, without the footprint.

AntF 03-24-08 03:06 AM

had the same problem with my timbuk2, strap system was pretty uncomfortable to the point where I couldn't stand riding with it.
