about the portland massacre thing... my friends had the idea and started it up and now im helping everyone out with it. the portland decapitation crew was definitely a joke. they dont think they are hardcore or anything at all they just have fun and ride. i want them to change it to club or something... the video was primarily for yamco(sp?) pads because they sent us a bunch of products and are helping sponsor the event but we dont take ourselves seriously.
the events going to be fun. some people are hating because they think we are "copying" fast friday but we have been there and its a lot of fun that we think portland should have.
as far as the names (friday night bikes, radderday, portland massacre) its our first time setting up a monthly event and we are sorry for it being kind of wishy washy about the whole thing. once we have more events it will get easier and better. there will be cool prizes like free wheel trues, 60$ maintenance gift certificates to 21st ave. bikes, top tube pad stuff, and a bunch of other stuff.
there is no entry fee. just sign up and have fun. i believe we are going to be doing most the events on mount tabor because its pretty prime.
come and join if you can we really want this to be big and get the community of bikers in portland more organized, connected, and friendly and give us all something to look forward to every month and keep wanting to ride.
oh and we meet at 5 under the hawthorne bridge.

i'm looking forward to it. i think i actually met one of the kids involved in it the other day at a shop on killingsworth. he had one of those brooklyn machine works "track" bikes built for tricks and said he was working on learning them. seemed like a nice guy.

i'll be either riding a silver cannondale track or a black mercier with cd's in my front spokes if you want to say hi.

oh and you should let those dudes know about pdxfixed.

"no aloha." man, the breeders are still awesome.

how bout no hand trackstand on the doug fir while eating thai basil while it's still warm (you'd have to race over the water after getting it)?

count me in or on whatever board you get going. what's a name? PDXFIX? i'm inking that on my neck tomorrow ;)

ok so we mapped out everything exactly whats going to happen. basically heres how it goes.
5:00 meet under the hawthorne bridge on the east waterfront.
5:30ish ride up belmonte to mount tabor
6:00 best trick competition at the basketball courts at the top by the ampitheater
6:30... or whenever best trick finishes were gonna do the ghettodrome at the very top
whenever thats done there is a circle platform with grass around it by the ghetto drome that were doing footdown on (sooo perfect)
at the very end we may or may not do the downhill race if we think its going to be dangerous or not. its a really intense ride to the bottom with ALOT of winds and curves and it might be dark by then. if we dont do the downhill race we are all just going to ride to the bottom with everyone and thats where we are going to give out all the prizes and everything.
events. so basically if you are late still go up to mt. tabor and you will be able to make it to at least a couple. everything looks seriously perfect for every event we are all really excited about it

Yep, that's him. I know he'd want to hear about a PDX FG site. If he was willing to post something, it would make all the difference in getting more participants. At the very least, perhaps he would put a link to it on Bike Portland.

there is a likely chance that jonathan maus has a search page of BF in his favorites under the term "portland" and reads every post that mentions portland and therefore knew about pdxfixed that way. he's probably reading my post right now... hi jon.

I just got an email from Jonathan at BikePortland. He's going to be running a story about fixed gears in Portland sometime today with a link to some of the events that are coming up and pdxfixed.com. The site will probably get a lot of traffic today....

the guy with red hair and the green bareknuckle is ben, he's an organizer of the Portland Massacre. Or at least I think so, he's the one who told me about it.
